Heard there was quite the situation after the game ended in regard to the Oakton coaches. Heard this from our team managers sitting at the table witnessing this go down. Horrible. Absolutely horrible. This needs to be addressed.

You had to see the game to understand. Oakton’s #11 had scored something like 6 straight goals. Madison’s only defense was to hold the ball. Then #11 intercepts the to give Oakton, down by a goal, a possession with a couple minutes left. It is just plain stupid to not call a timeout and make sure the star player has the ball in that critical moment.

Players are able to call timeouts as well as coaches.

Step up then big boy. Don’t spend your $1500 stipen for basically working with a team year round all in one place.

Lack of leadership from coaches combined with no real coaching, oakton has been exposed. Mad respect for all the players on oakton, but these junior level coaches (who think they are the best coaches) need to just walk away. That is why you can’t give coach of the year to a team that goes undefeated in district play. The oakton players deserve that award

Slugfest for sure. They may meet yet again in the disfunctional state playoff semis. Too many costly turnovers for Oakton after holding Madison to 2 goals in the second half. Prior poster correct on a time out. They had 4-5 chances to score and tie but didn’t. New last season starts with states. Win or go home

Brother. This is a VHSL 6A board. The two best public school teams in the state just slugged it out for 50 minutes in a great game. Both are having great seasons.

With all respect to the privates, there is another board... Thanks for the input though.

You just made this about pub v private, not me. Stop making excuses and start including tough teams on your schedule. Once you start beating those teams, you’ll have strong ground to stand on. Until then, you don’t.

Ok. See you now justifying your 40k to be on that list. You are right public schools cannot compete on depth 11 deep and privates that can recruit will always field better teams.

No reason to take anything away from Oakton. They are a great team having an outstanding season. Madison is legit and were underrated by all based on a strong graduating senior class.


Losing to an unranked team when you’ve only played one top ten team is a valid reason to be removed from top ten WaPo consideration.
