$29 billion and the strait of Hormuz is still closed.

Iran has agreed to nothing.

Inflation is at its highest in 3 years. Gas is close to $5/gallon.

We are paying for an arch and a ballroom.

We are definitely winning!!

This sucks.

Nobody will complain if it was that low.

Iran will keep this up through November. Iran is letting about 1/2 the Persian Gulf oil get to market. A few weeks before first absentee ballots go out in the states, Iran will destroy the Saudi pipeline and stop all tanker traffic through the strait. This will be another 10 million barrels a day gone from the market. It will double gas and diesel prices within days.

Trump is the next Carter.

No, he is not. Please do not denigrate President Carter like that. Trump is in a league of his own, and is below the dirt in which Carter is buried.

Carter called Israel an apartheid. Trump on the other hand is obedient and subservient to Zionists.

This is heartbreaking to me. Like with Gaza I am astounded we are sitting back and letting this happen.

And this time it’s so much worse - everyone is scared to protest based on what happened to protesters last time (remember the Tufts student swept up off the street by unidentified men while she was in the phone with her mom - all for writing an opt ed protesting what Israel was doing in Gaza!). We officially are living under a repressive regime.

You know who's actually scared to protest? Iranian citizens. Can't blame them considering the Iranian regime murdered thousands of them the last time they protested.

Maybe they’re scared to protest because they don’t want the us and Israel to install a shill candidate. They saw the disaster our failed regime changes caused in Iraq, Syria, libya. Do you think these places are better off post Saddam, Gaddafi, Assad? Absolutely not. Anyone well traveled will tell you Baghdad, Damascus, tripoli were excellent worldly cities pre war

Yes, I'm sure that must it. Not being utterly terrified that their insane and authoritarian mullahs will have them mowed down if they dare to protest.

Hey! Don’t throw stones in glass houses. We cannot protest here anymore either. We get SHOT!

How many Iranian protesters have been shot and how many American protesters have been shot?

Is there some acceptable number of protestors being shot or maimed or arrested or fired or jailed that makes you feel like the Trump administration is better than the Iranian leadership?

What’s the ratio?

DP. Here's a better question: tell us exactly why you are so defensive of the Iranian regime and why you feel they're more "moral" (can't believe I just typed that) than the U.S. Don't forget to take into account their brutal jailing and executions of political prisoners, women, homosexuals, etc. We'll wait while you build your insane defense of a terrorist state.

Do they rape prisoners with dogs like Israel does? Do they have an organ, drug, and child trafficking racket like Israel? Do they have a litany of failed false flags across 5 continents? Did they atomic bomb Hiroshima and Nagasaki, enslave and separate people from their children, and ethnically cleanse Native Americans then name football teams after it?
Did they invade a country based on fake intelligence which led to a million deaths? Did Iran support and arm terror groups like Al Qaeda and Isis? Did they starve Cuba to death with humanitarian aid blockades? (Nobody’s talking about this)

No, that was all the United States

But hey we have pride parades so I guess we are moral

Yes, Persia did practice slavery enthusiasticly. Slavery in Persia/Iran was not outlawed until 1929.

..and we did it until 1865. Again, pretending that we are good and moral just because we didn’t something a little longer ago or on a smaller scale bizarre.

Many of our Middle East “allies” practice defacto slavery right now in construction and other industries and we suck up to them like it’s our job.

And after slavery was outlawed, the USA switched to defacto slavery which was called sharecropping. A sharecropper not only indebted hisself for life to the landowner, but also his wife and children. They had to farm the owner's land and live in the shacks (former slave homes) on the land of the landowner, purchase their food and clothing from the landowner. All the expenses were deducted from the sharecroppers meager wages and for some reason the sharecropper always owed a debt to the landowner. So technically, slavery in the USA continued well into the 1950's, 60's of this country. I remember my late grandmother telling me the stories about growing up on a sharecropper's farm and having to fight off both the the owner and his son. She was born in 1922. She ran north during WW2, but her father and one brother remained to pay the family ongoing alleged debts.

That's absolutely horrible but was unfortunately a very common experience throughout the world and is still a common experience in developing countries. It's the exact reason why Marx and Communism have held such an allure and why so many people emigrate. The world needs to be a better place.

DP. Why don’t you tell us why you are so defensive of Israel. It is a foreign country that does terrible inhuman things. Everything you listed- brutal jailing and executions of political prisoners, women, homosexuals, etc. Israel does every day for over 70 years.

We'll wait while you build your insane defense of a terrorist state

DP. This is a fake argument. Why do you think calling one state out in a conversation means they support the opponent? There aren’t any good guys here.

Israel is by any definition a terrorist state. If the US is attacking Iran because you say Iran is a terrorist state that means Israel must be attacked because it is far worst vs Iran in every matrix.

Also the pp was not having a conversation. Just posting nonsense about Iran being a terrorist state. Like it or not Iran has a right to self defense. Iran has not been the aggressor in 47 years unlike Israel.

Though it does not matter. The US will be out of the ME and Europe within a year or two. Europe without American in NATO will sanction Israel. This will crippling Israel. China and Iran will be the main player in the ME. The gulf states are already in discussions with the Chinese. China unlike the US does not give a rat’s ass about Israel.

Israel is in an untenable position going forward. From now on any Israeli attacks against Iran or its allies will result in the shutdown of the strait and/or strikes against Israel. The world is not going to stand by and let Israel wreck the world’s economy. Israel will have to at minimum rebuild Gaza, remove all West Bank settlements and Jordan will be turned in to a Palestinian state that annexes the West Bank.

Israel really f’ed up this time.

You explicitly said we were less moral specifically because we engaged in slavery and they did not. You were blatantly wrong on a factual basis and can't have it both ways.

Iran/Persia have never been global Mother Teresa's. That doesn't mean that this war was a good idea but it does mean that your anti-American moral bs, which is eerily similar to the anti-Iranian moral bs, is bs.

DP. This is disingenuous. You know perfectly well that the scale and scope of slavery in Persia/Iran was substantially different from that of chattel slavery in the Americas (millions versus 100s of thousands, large scale economic dependence versus domestic workers/warriors, permanent/hereditary/race based status versus non-inherited, legal system that explicitly defined slaves as property, designed to keep them enslaved versus legal system that provided ways out, and some protections, etc.). I am not saying Persian slavery was okay or acceptable, just that they are very different things, and the scale and scope of what we did was substantially worse than what they did.

Castration and religious based slavery were not better.

I am no fan of Russia but they had to fight a war against Qajar Persia to put a stop to the slave raids.

Both American and Persian slavery was bad. Pretending that one was morally superior or has anything to do with this stupid war is asinine.
