The video today reminded me of a cringe morning talk show. Imagine a worse version of Live with Kelly and Ryan. I didn’t think that was possible until today. It was definitely not a video of a solid couple sharing a travel experience.

That walking out of the graduation thing that Jen seemed to think was so cool and funny really confirmed to me that she is the kind of mom that laughs at her bratty kids yet seems to want to get away from them as much as possible. That behavior really showed some of the dreaded "privilege" that she and her followers love to identify in the rest of us. I think it wouldn't be hard to find quite a few high school kids who would think it very hip to skip graduation. But there are also quite a few parents who would step in and tell the kid to get out on that stage and walk. Because of self respect, respect for your family who got you there, respect for a rite of passage that will have meaning down the road, and respect for your classmates, some of whom may actually appreciate the diploma they receive.

I’ve been watching some of Tyler’s older videos. He appears to have a good heart with pure motives but sometimes a heavy handed self righteousness that kind of derails the forward motion. He was like, “leave that guy alone.” I appreciated him noticing her entitlement to go up on that stage with expensive camera equipment assuming she could charm her way out of trouble if caught. Which is basically what she did, telling her viewers that’s how she does it. That’s why her son thought walking out of graduation was ok, it’s how mom rolls as well. Rules don’t apply. Tyler knows he could never get away with that kind of behavior so I’m hoping he helps her see her privilege.


I didn't read the comments on that post, but I'm glad he challenged her because that seriously irked me. Like "Oh, I can totally be here because I'm renting an apartment right over there!" Yeeah, no, that's not how that works, Jen. I get nerding out over the booth...I probably would too, and I would take some pictures from a distance and MAYBE if I saw someone I'd ask if I could get a closer look. But go strolling up around tens of thousands of dollars worth of equipment? I think not.

I couldn't watch the whole video with Jen & Tyler. I got the feeling that she's trying for another HGTV or Travel channel show. She's certainly changed from the Jen I started following years ago.

Yeah, I'm Facebook friends with someone who vacationed up there as a Black woman and her experience was radically different and actually pretty damn scary for her. As 'socially conscious' as Jen wants to be, I'm still not 100% convinced that she really understands to the depths of her soul what it means to be part of a marginalized group.

Actually the way she keeps saying this is forever in front of Tyler is a form of control and manipulation. He doesn’t seem to be making the same claims about their relationship. He’s almost fifty and never married, he’s slipped out of the clutchy hands of plenty of women. I’m sure his female bff (aka:emotional spouse) knows he’ll be all hers again eventually. Wonder how many times she’s ridden this ride with him before?

After she posts these mentally unstable videos I keep thinking where are her people? Why is no one doing an intervention? Someone needs to wrap her up in a soft blanket and talk gently to as they get her to professional help. And I don’t mean some online therapy, but a local with a proven reputation prepared to walk with her for the long haul, plus a recovery group.

I finally listened to their interview with Glennon and Abby. Jen gushes that she’s not afraid bc he’ll never ever leave. What girl? Why set yourself up like that and have to backtrack when ultimately it doesn’t work out. So so dumb.

I’ve wondered the same, she feels hypomanic.

I also noticed how Tyler did not reciprocate her physical affection, he seemed annoyed. I honestly felt sorry for her. It’s like he knows he’s being used as a prop and doesn’t care for it but he also likes the perks of being Jen’s guy for now.
