Yes we’re very concerned and nervous that fallsmead and rockshire will ruin this opportunity for the rest of us. I wish there was an option on the table to fix Wootton and stay there but there isn’t. So as a realistic thinker, I’m also for option H.

So Wootton campus will be sold to developers? Is that the plan? 1 million dollar townhomes I suppose.

Muldoon Farm for Bethesda soccer I suppose U15-U19….let the good times roll! (Downhill)

For those not in the soccer club: 15/20 years ago Bethesda cut a deal to use Wootton stadium for their practice field and invested 1 million in it to refurbish, given their shortsightedness in never purchasing land for proper facilities in Moco when they could have (1980-85)

For the younger player high paying families crowd they push them to a club connected family farm named Muldoon’s which runs at a slant - really it’s a glorified cow pasture.

Bethesda parents have at the meat in those two statements.

Fair enough.

There are many who feel H should Not be pursued and that one of the top schools in the county should Not disappear. Meaning it will no longer exist whether it is officially "closed" or not.

So MCPS may or may not not need to call this a closure under the vague definition, of such. Perhaps there should be a new category called "Disappearing a School"? This would allow MCPS avoid any "Closure" discussions and they could just make a school "Disappear"

FTLOG it would be moving to a new site, not disappearing!

PP that the other poster responded to- the school as people now know it is in fact disappearing under Option H. It is disingenuous to claim it isn't. The debate should be around whether that fundamental change is nevertheless in the best interest of the district as a whole.

They don't like the idea of undesirable demographic groups being zoned for the school. But rezoning isn't making a school disappear. Schools and boundaries change.

Who are “they”? Gaithersburg families don’t want Option H either.

As if they would prefer EFG? Under H at least the part of Gaithersburg near crown gets to go.

But the entire Crown was promised to them. What happens when there over capacity issues in a few years. Where will those kids go if Wootton is closed? Makes more sense to use excess capacity at Crown for holding school purposes, as that isn’t permanent. Keep Wootton where it is and remediate (usually 1-3% of a total tear down and renovation). MCPS can then take its time to do things right.

Pure fiction. Crown was initially intended to pull from many surrounding clusters, including Gaithersburg, Wootton, Quince Orchard, Richard Montgomery, and Northwest.

Even if that’s true, screw most of those kids, right? You know, a new school they’ve waited 20 years to get.

Wootton doesn't care about anyone but themselves. Instead of waiting their turn and understanding they aren't the only school with serious issues, they are demanding an immediate fix.

Wootton is asking for remediation of immediate problems, not a full renovation. But I'm glad to hear you're against Option H because Wootton is willing to wait its turn.

Many of the schools have immediate problems. So, yes, wait your turn like the rest of us. I don’t care about any of the options as nothing changes for us but our school gets smaller so less staff and even less course offerings but we already have minimal offerings so not sure what can be cut. We will probably go private for our youngest depending on offerings.

If you’re going private why do you care so much about forcing through Option H?

I’m not. I cared about the entitlement when some of our schools are far worse off with regular flooding, gas leaks, Celine’s falling down, closed bathrooms, lack of course offerings and more while Wootton gets regular updates and not nearly as bad. We’d gladly take a new school close by. You assume a lot because you are selfish and entitled.

I’m sorry you feel the way you do. Get well soon.

So, you think no one else should be concerned about the issues in their schools and only care about Wootton which gets regular updates?

Agreed and to continue the baseball analogy, we are moving the Yankees to Pennsylvania, we are combining them with the Phillies, and we are naming the new team the Pennsylvania Crowns. However there is absolutely no evidence that we are closing the Yankees

This is nuts. H is basically the equivalent of moving the Yankees down the street to a new stadium, adding 5 or 6 new players to the 25-man roster over the off-season, keeping the coaching and other managment staff the same, keeping the name the same (it will still be called Wootton, guys, sheesh), etc... this has literally happened, and happens with sports teams all the time, and no one is like "They got rid of the Yankees! They're not really the Yankees anymore because they have a new stadium and some of the players changed!". That would sound idiotic and frankly all the Wootton chicken littles don't sound much better.

Reminder one more time, folks: dealing with boundary changes and school location changes is normal and not a big deal. Yeah, they don't usually happen in the same year, but are you really gonna tell us you'd be fine with option H if Wootton moved in 2027 but the boundaries didn't change until 2029? Nope, because you think you're entitled to your school staying exactly the same AND entitled to the rest of the county paying for expensive repairs to your building. Sorry guys.

Yes, very concerned. That's why many people with elementary age kids in the Wootton cluster support H.

I am a parent of a Wootton cluster ES student, a new poster here. I strongly oppose option H. So is everyone else I know in our school. Our PTA wrote a letter to BOE expressing their unified objection. To me, the concern about not being able to attend Wootton, that there may be no Wootton, strongly overweighs any repair issues. This is not a school proximal to WHS.

It's kind of you to worry about that. I'm sure we can redirect some of the kids from Wootton over to GHS so we can send more Gaithersburg students to Crown.

Better yet, why not give them the school they were promised? GHS, QO, RM, and NW all have kids that were supposed to fill up most of the 2200 slots at Crown. MCPS seems to want to screw everyone with Option H.

Rockshire gets screwed. Everyone else would be perfectly fine with it though.

Again, while it is kind of you to offer, I don't think there's great reason to split Wootton across QO,RM, and NW just because someone suggested at one point that certain neighborhoods might go to Crowd.
