No it's not. I know many B team kids who have been recruited. Usually to DIII but recruited.

The top girls club in DC, Capital has an A (blue) and B (orange). Girls are routinely recruited from orange.

They are "offered" admission. Admissions will do a "pre-read" involving taking a look at transcripts. If you pass that, you are as good as in. For many of the academic D3 schools, that's priceless.


I know of a few D3 lacrosse recruits at my son's school who are now seniors. They have smiles on their faces whenever I see them. My son and all the other non-recruits all look nervous and stressed out as the pressure of the college application process is building. The peace of mind knowing that you will be admitted to a great school, where you get to play a sport you love, is worth all the time, energy, and money I know these boys and their families put in.

Depends on the club, not the kid. A top club has the best recruiting coordinators, connections, name recognition and best resources, which their B team players will also access.

Bullis has been very good for the past 2 - years. I am not denying that.

4 years ago, not many people outside the DC area would have even considered them to be a "lacrosse power"

While Bullis is a very good team, I wouldn't even rank them as a top program in the area. Sure they have had some recent success in the past 3 years but their program as a whole is suspect. For a school that also has a LS and MS, there is hardly any home grown talent.

Under your definition, neither Prep or Gonzaga have any home grown talent since they get all of their kids to come from other schools to attend high school. Or, are you saying that recruiting 8th grade kids to come to your school is more preferable than recruiting 9th or 10th grade kids to come to your school? It's probably not a bad idea, since they're more impressionable in 8th grade. Dang, why don't those dummies at Bullis just start working on the kids when they're younger? Great idea!

Absolutely yes. I know many kids who see lax as a way to weight their desire to go to an Ivy. All the Ivies recruit for lax and care about lax. We know lots of kids who have gone to an Ivy as a lax recruit. Each school takes 7-10 recruit each for the womens and mens teams. There are always kids from this area on those rosters.

Sure. B teams are notorious bastions of top players who college coaches are dying to meet - not.

Logic fails on this one. There are (relatively) few college spots. There are a lot of top club teams all over the DMV, Baltimore, Long Island -- and many other areas. To think that any college coach needs to look at a kid who isn't even among the best players on his own "top" club is, well, delusional. I guess your "top club" coach has the B team parents drinking a LOT of kool aid.
