When they heard the young man had not returned (not sure if that part matches timeline), they could have assumed that she was still with him.

They barely knew the girl, and had just met her the night before. It really wasn’t their responsibility. When someone is missing for just a few hours, it is very likely they will turn up. No, I don’t know her room number? Her friends are on a boat excursion and don’t have cell service). You really think the hotel was going to take that seriously or start some type of official search?
