Any public HS coach that is not emptying the bench in a 10-goal game running clock in the 2nd half, either way, probably shouldn't be coaching HS kids.
Our coach does this in the last 5-10 mins if the clock is running. No one is making up 10 goals in under 10 mins and she feels why risk injury. A few years back she had a starter blow out a knee trying to push it while down a lot in a no win situation. Likely cost them a chance to advance in regionals down the line.
Our starters are usually excited to see their friends play who don’t get to play much anyway.
