My son's age group has made moves over the winter as well. Also a U-Little so I can't speak for older teams (U13+) but speaking of last year specifically both on the girls and the boys side, players moved between fall and spring.
We are happy with our child's growth and coach.

This is simply not accurate as a blanket statement. Multiple kids in my child’s age group have been moved up midseason in previous years. Including from second team to top team. Other kids have been moved down to make room for the ones who got moved up. We have even seen a bit of movement in the middle of a season but that’s more rare. I suspect midseason changes are coming again based on things the coach has said.

I don’t know what happens in other age groups, but PP should not speak as though they know what’s happening across the whole club. Valor definitely has issues but it’s just not true that changes are only made after spring tryouts. Sounds like PP’s experience was a problem with a specific coach being too chicken to piss off certain parents. I have been surprised at how many kids who have been moved down (or not moved
up) actually stay. Some have left, but most have stayed. I think some of them know they’d be on an even lower team elsewhere.

It’s absolutely true it’s very extremely rare for them to do midseason bump ups.. and I’ve never heard of any team demoting midseason. I highly doubt any kid was moved down.

I can think of at least four kids moved down from first to second team midseason. Not sure about movement on other teams. Sorry you don’t believe it. I would never assume I know what’s going on across an entire organization when I only have experience with one part of it.

You seem to get really upset when someone says anything about Valor that isn’t completely negative. I have said multiple times our experience has not been amazing and not sure we will stick around. Not sure how that makes me someone who works for Valor. You can tell those posts because they’re over the top positive. I think you have a strange obsession and probably just need to move on. When my kid has left a team or organization I don’t continue thinking about them and repeatedly post about them. I think you’re a little off balance.

I don’t know what else I can say to make you believe me. My own child is one who was moved midseason. Others have been moved too. This is in an age group under U13.

To a PP who said it sounded fantastic — I that definitely is not the word I would use to describe our experience with Valor. But I do think the coaches have done this particular thing right in this age group. I have heard some terrible things about age groups a little bit older which makes us hesitant to stick around much longer. I think we have avoided the worst of the coaches thus far but it seems like our luck would probably run out here soon.

Your child will only be moved up after tryouts in spring for the next season. IF there is an open spot on the next higher up team. If there are players on the next higher up team who are weaker than your player, your kid will not bump them for their spot as they are paying customers and Valor values that far more than accurate team placement.

I'm not the PP but I'm going to chime in that their description is spot on in what I'm currently observing. Your situation sounds fantastic age/gender and how long ago would be useful information.

Unless, your the top 2 teams, I wouldn't expect much. Don't anticipate moving up in the team: getting a top tier coach; getting more opportunities to guest play in upper age groups/more games/additional practices, scrimmages and tournaments) unless your kids a water walker playing at the top of his team and that hinges on what team he/she is one - bottom 3rd, 4th or 5th teams (Money grabs). Good luck since most of the moves are based on first come first serve, even some nepotism and which managers are s****** the most …. at the time. We took our kid and left. The parents/kids that remained are on a team in a much - much lower division. It it smells funny…then theres probably an issue. -IMO, Valor priorities quantity ($$$) over quality performance. Just ask them how they evaluate and document a players performance compared to other players? What metric do they use? I bet the tryouts were wonderful. Let me know what they say.

Our son’s team is practicing two times a week, already started indoor soccer and futsal and had a scrimmage with his team while my girls team has done nothing.

Do the girls teams not do anything during the winter/off season?

I guess this is something we should has asked about when we signed up I just assumed they would be doing something.

Individual coaches develop their own plans and sign up for different events. The Lower Tier teams typically do less and the Higher Tier teams typically do as much as they can. This is not uncommon to find such a huge discrepancy in what is going on during the winter within the same club.

The Lower teams cost just as much as the "higher" teams.
