On the basis of what? They are quite possibly the worst IAC school in EVERY regard.

My friend's oldest daughter took 3 courses last year at Georgetown FOR FREE. She's headed to UChicago.

DC is very sought after place not just real estate but jobs and schools too! They are able to be VERY selective becase the alternative is DCPS!! That is the only reason!! IF DCPS were to get to the level of VA and MOCO then I thik these schools would become less competitive!! Just my opinion!!

Many VA and MD students travel to SFS for a great education. My child has been there since 3rd- and is now a rising sophomore. I know all of the schools well, and don't believe that one is as good as another. Potomac is, no doubt, better for the arts. St. Albins is far superior to Landon. Look at their admissions (if they will allow). Holton's admissions are also less competitive than NCS. Public schools in this area (parts of Montgomery and Fairfax and DC for elementary) are great, too. If you are on this forum and interested in your child's education, relax.... They will be great).

Anonymous wrote:GDS rocks now more than ever, IMHO. GDS was compelling enough for it to be the Obamas' first choice for their daughters. Too bad the Secret Service veteoed it because they had concerns about the flow of the Palisades campus driveway. That's why the Obamas finally wound up at Sidwell.

That's not what they told me.

No. Second tier. Great school, but not in the same league with these.
