Yeah, I was surprised that the Canadian relief group was willing to push that far into a war zone. I assumed that it was just rebel territory in downtown Chicago.
So, I follow this show too closely, but this map posted by the show indicates that Chicago is rebel held. The cease fire was widely publicized so humanitarian groups could go in. The bombing was reprehensible, but should be expected in this sort of situation.

The high-ranking men protect each other/won't hold each other accountable because they don't want to be held accountable themselves. The guy in charge of that hearing was Putnam - the one that had his hand cut off for his affair with Janine. If they start turning on each other, where does it end?
I also think they are kind of desperate. Sounds like there are sanctions, lots of fronts in the war, etc. And they are bumbling around talking about invading Canada. Lawrence is actually smart.
Lawrence was saved by Nick, who surely regrets it after that last meeting.
Yes, but I'd argue the above still stands.

The whole scene prior to the end with her wanting to stay and have a baby was so odd to me! Talk about getting out of one bad situation and right into another, but it fits her personality and reminds me of when she thought the commander was going to leave his wife to marry her.
It looks like June could be safe and free now and hopefully Janine, too, but without Hannah, I don't see her choosing that route.
In the episode where Hannah was afraid of her I think that June pretty much realized that trying to personally rescue her might no longer be in her best interest. Janine wanted to return to Boston in this episode but June was adamantly against it. She said something like “there’s nothing for us there.”![]()
It’s an interesting question what’s in Hannah’s best interest. I personally think that forcibly removing her would still be in her best interest even if upsetting to her. A child who is kidnapped or joined a cult might be brainwashed to fear their parents and hate normal society—that doesn’t mean you leave them with the kidnapper. You rescue them even if they hate you for it, and try to get them access to De-programming therapy.
Except any travel with a unwilling child would be inherently risky. No way to do it without drugging them.

I am going to be so, so pissed if they killed off Janine. So. Damn. Pissed.
I don’t get the new alliance between Commander Lawrence and Aunt Lydia. How did she have evidence against him, especially in Winslow’s murder? They’re suddenly working for the same thing?
And once again Nick is useless. Get off your ass and go rescue Hannah, you piece of crap traitor.
It seems like every time Cmdr Lawrence seems to be doing the right thing a page turns and he is shown to have ulterior motives or really just doesn’t care. Then another page turns and those ulterior motives weren’t what they seemed. He’s inscrutable.
