You do know that at this time, MOST American churches would not be supportive?

No R-rated movies. No searching the internet for Mormon problem issues. No writings that may criticize Mormonism. (All these things are called "anti-Mormon" by the church. Yes, the church even tells you what vocabulary to use.)
If you dare to question anything it is because you are not praying hard enough and the problem is with you, not the church.
Ask me how I l know.

Wondering if anyone read your link in your post. Then I wondered, again, why people deal with religion at all. What makes people engage in this fantasy? Fear of death?Community? Religion makes zero sense.
Mormonism is all about the after-life. It is an obsession. They put fear into each member that they will not be reunited with their family in the afterlife if they are not Mormon. They literally threaten that you will be separated from your children if you or your children leave the church. You -- well, your husband -- will not become god-like and have his own planet where you and his other wives are endlessly pregnant creating spirit babies.

You know full well that ANY religion could be shredded like that, right? Islam, Hinduism, Christianity (especially Catholicism), Judaism. All religions have really wacky ways. In the end, these are the values that matter to Mormons, if this doesn't appeal to you, you have the freedom to walk into any other house of worship, or none.

Mormons have to give 10% of gross. Yes they know exactly how much you make.Anonymous wrote:As another PP suggested, just appropriate the ideals you like about the religion. Service is a wonderful concept that so many churches encourage but few parishioners partake of. In Mormonism it is required -- you can't get to heaven without doing constant good deeds.
i like that family home evening thing that someone mentioned. We may try that. I will pick the least busy night of the week and dedicate it to the family being together. I think we may try for 2x per month.
We certainly don't need to convert to some religion that checks our W-2s in order to do these things I find attractive.
(We do give 1% of our income [b]to our charities of choice each year. My kids also donate 1% of their allowance to the charities of their choice. We didn't demand, we just set the example.)
