Amazing that the MoCo teachers union apparently has more power than the NYC teachers union . . .
It’s going to be screen time all the time for kindergartners and graduate students alike. Teachers are threatening strikes. And students are already coming home with covid-19, the disease that has upended American education.
The 2020-2021 school year has dawned and it’s more chaotic than any before.
Plans are changing so fast that students and parents can hardly keep up. Districts that spent all summer planning hybrid systems, in which children would be in school part of the week, ditched them as coronavirus cases surged.

Just watch the districts fall like dominoes.
They are going online for 2 days, drama queen.

Look at the state of NY- they provided specific guidance and then individual districts had to submit their plans to the state for approval. My teacher friends in upstate NY are cautiously optimistic about returning to the classroom. Meanwhile in MD all the districts were left to their own devices until MoCo issues a directive on the private schools that Hogan didn’t like. Just a lot of political infighting vs. an honest conversation about what is best for kids.
NY is in a much better situation than MD. They have less than 25% the number of cases per capita.

I have friends in FL, CA, and several other states whose schools have announced closings. Who do you consider "the rest of the country"?

I especially love the ones who think it is detrimental to their children's mental health to spend time with them.
What's detrimental to my child's mental health is having to spend 8-9 hours a day alone while his parents work. I would love to just be able to spend all day with him but... mama has a job.
