I’m in my mid-40s, and I’ve noticed plenty of people chronicling their “journeys.” Weight loss, exercise, marathon training, eating healthy, cooking, crafting, whatever, etc. The worst are the parenting ones and the people who make every daily chore a dramatic accomplishment (I cleaned the house! Finished laundry! Made it to the soccer game! Served thanksgiving dinner! Survived back to school night!).

I really do not understand the hate toward the husband in this ad. For me, it’s the crazy woman blogging/making a video about her exercise routine...that seems so interesting! She reminds me of a few friends I know. They constantly exercise like they are training for the Olympics, have incredibly strict diets(no butter on anything, count all their calories, every sauce on the side, freak out if they can not order a salad, never touch a dessert, etc) and complain about how busy and stressed out they are. They still drink heavily...because you know they would rather drinking their calories.

I think the video she made plus her looks is what sank the ad. Not necessarily that it was given as an Xmas gift. I do feel bad for the actor (and I'm sure she has gotten backlash too)

I think one of their biggest problems with this as was casting. The actress has large, round eyes. And I think that's what gave off the negative "husband pleasing, anxious " vibe. I really think a less wide eyes actress would have made a difference

I know two women who received Peloton bikes as gifts from their husbands and both thought it was a great gift, as did I. While Spin classes are fun, it is more time efficient and flexible to do the workouts at home.

Watched the ad with my 7 year old who said, “Looks cool! Can we get one?”

I’m a liberal woman who is NOT offended by the ad. Heck, I’m even a bit overweight. Here’s my take on the ad: she’s a working mom with a demanding job (just like me) and she and her husband have a high HHI. Her husband knows her friends have Pelotons and she wanted one...even though they have a gym membership and she’s done barre and yoga. But she explained that it would be so much more convenient to have the peloton in the house so she doesn’t need to leave the house and find a sitter since he’s always on work travel or golfing. He obviously doesn’t need the guilt or a fight, so he bought her the peloton. NBD because they can easily afford it.
