The allegation of lack of firsthand knowledge is spin and anonymously sourced.
More important, however, is that the President and Rudy Guliani have already admitted what they have done. In fact, Trump's story has changed three times in three days. He asked Pelosi to cut a deal. Who cares what the whistleblower has at this point? The culprits have already admitted to the crimes.
We also don’t know what is meant by first hand knowledge. Dan Coats or John Bolton could be the whistle blower and one could argue that neither technically had first hand knowledge because they wouldn’t have been on the call— the people who report to them would have been. It is likely that the whistle blower is further up the chain of command. That is the nature of the role of DNI and NSA.
