I cringe every time I think back to that hearing, and not because of Kavanaugh’s understandably human behavior, but because of the disgusting and surreal grilling of his high school life (30+ years ago). She was one of the only senators to speak up for common sense and decency and not jump on the witch-hunt bandwagon. Whether she wins or loses her next election, I will always admire her for having a backbone and doing what was right.

His temper tantrum was undignified and gross, and he presented as an entitled partisan hack who didn't have enough respect for American citizens to treat his confirmation hearings with any seriousness. And Collins should lose because of that, and because of her general uselessness.

He's human. Had he not done that, you would have said he must be guilty. The guilty ones? The Dems on the Judicial Committee who orchestrated and dramatized the whole hearing. Feinstein's staff is probably the most guilty. They took a woman who was either a liar or seriously unstable and made her into a heroine/martyr. Fortunately, one of her friends whom she expected to defend her, showed some integrity and, while she suported Ford, she could not lie for her. This was a woman who was a strong liberal. So, there are some who still have integrity. I thought Feinstein was one of them until this hearing. I think she let her staff manipulate her. She no longer has a moral compass.
