How is June not only still alive and but also not faced any major repercussions? (No colonies, missing fingers, rings on mouth or death) EVERY. TIME. she does something I think surely she'll be killed for this and NOPE, it's someone else who dies instead. Serena lost a finger for far less than what June has done.

Random thought - if Fred gets enough on Commander Stabler's bisexuality, he can turn him in. Serena could take over his kids.

Just watched last week's episode and this thread has had all the discussions that i was craving! (except for the last 2 pages where posters keep going down rabbit holes of adoption and religion)

For the PP on page 12 that suggested Nick is still a good guy and is trying to protect June - THANK YOU for giving me hope! I was so lost after the episode. I love Nick so so much.

Did anyone catch the moment between Fred and Serena in the playroom. They seemed to have a genuine moment of lightheartedness with the lion/Fred asking for sugar? And then Serena purposely used her left hand to give the sugar, to signal with her sawed off finger that she ain't playin' with Fred.

I’m a practicing Catholic. I see nothing Christian or Godly in Gilead. I don’t see anything Christian or Godly in Trump’s treatment of migrants or a state prosecuting a woman who miscarries. I don’t blame God that these policies exist by the hand of a few people who claim to do his bidding. I try to fight against these injustices and my faith strengthens me in that work.

Not really. In our own society, for a lot public discourse, it seems as if religious believers now equal the conservative interpretations, like the Christian Right. The Christian Left is also out there. Believers can still believe without thinking that any manifestation of religion is correct. I’ve been waiting this entire time for one of the handmaids to stand up and shout “if I’m a sinner and you’re so blessed and righteous, how come we are able to have children and you can’t?”

No. The book only covered most of S1. S2 and up are new material written for the series. Up until now (staples), I bought MA’s line that everything shown was something that had happened to women somewhere at some point.
