FCV girls will go to Loudoun and other local options. Barca will probably get the Loudoun Gray team kids that are displaced down the chain.
FCV girls will NOT go to Loudoun - not the DA girls. Loudoun has a long way to go to be competitive. Why move so far down the soccer ladder just for a shorter commute to some of the practices?
This may be the dumbest thing I’ve read here. If the top 4 or 5 girls from FCV da in any age group went to Loudoun they’d immediately become more competitive. Where do you think half the FCV da girls came from in the first place? They could also play for a stable and closely located club. But hey, do what you think is best. Enjoy the traffic, the FCV da kool aid, and your $15 hamburger.

I know many Loudoun parents that don’t want to do ECNL because of the travel involved and are heading to Barca.
Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:So--what really happened? Did anyone at FCV anticipate or hear rumors of this---or were they really completely blind-sided?
The families that turned down their DA offers and United/Elite offers were not blindsided. Not many knew exactly what was going to happen, but given the struggle to field full non-DA teams across several different age groups, the departure of several coaches, and the willingness for CZ to take a "part-time" job with the Spirit pro team were strong indicators something was going to happen, and that it would be disruptive. Hence why the smart folks left.
Also - you all do realize that TSJ is not done yet with acquiring clubs. It is right in their statement about expanding into Fairfax and PW counties. PWSI, SYC, LMVSC, BRYC ... they are coming for either your clubs or your kids or both. It is all about getting enough parents that drive their kids to games, practices, and tournaments, and have nowhere else to go for the 1.5 to 2 hrs while there. So maybe they'll buy a membership to work out, or maybe they'll buy a $15 hamburger, or maybe they'll enroll their kids siblings in Ice Hockey or Bball, or maybe they'll also use the child care services to get a break from their toddler for an hour, etc. They HAVE to get customers in that building and they HAVE to get customers and emailing lists (data) to market other sports entertainment services. The only way to do that is to find customers that will be emotionally tied to being there (i.e. their kid is there). That is their business strategy. If I own a youth sports club (soccer, lacrosse, whatever), I am calling them up yesterday to get a return on my investment to get out of a tough, low margin business.

Metro United has access to GFR fields and there is no connection to St James.
Stop spreading bunk.
Because Metro United is GFR. Do you not know how this works? Are you trying to say that Metro United is an independent entity that is operating free of GFR?
It is technically classified as a member of GFR but is operated independently by the former Spirit VA DA staff. There is no connection with St James nor does GFR staff have any desire to interfere with what the former Spirit VA staff are doing. They are being treated as a partner club, but more tightly integrated to satisfy US Soccer administrative and field requirements.
Metro United is nothing more than the elite are of GFR. The players will all be registered paying members of GFR.
Not quite, but nice try. There will be some GFR players but many others and other partnerships as well. It will be a DA and distinct from GFRs programming, other than administrative management and field space ownership. Look for partner announcements upcoming.
I get that there is drowning man syndrome going on here. Enjoy your winter practices in Springfield.
“Many other partnerships...”
Bartender - You know the drill!
