After the 2018 massacre of high school students in Parkland, Fla., Mr. Trump “seemed to support imposing some of the toughest new restrictions on guns in decades,” Mr. Powell writes. But the president quickly folded after a meeting with Mr. LaPierre and Chris Cox, who was then the N.R.A.’s top lobbyist.
“He was reminded who had helped elect him,” Mr. Powell writes. “After the meeting, the president did a one-eighty, completely changing his tune.”

If this is about politics, isn't it better that he wastes the money instead of use it for lobbying purposes.
Are you seriously asking why the AGs office would care about laws being broken?
Are you seriously not getting that the AG is politically motivated?
So using your logic, no prosecutors can fairly handle cases relating to people of opposite political parties? That makes a ton of sense...
Might want to re-take logic class.
Oliver North was president of the NRA until 2019. He believed there were financial issues and ordered an investigation. The investigation never happened, he was forced out instead. This was widely reported in the news and NY AG launched it's own investigation at the same time. You think they should have ignored this? Why?
But why NY?
She is a former defense attorney and one of the new woke prosecutors. She is pandering to her clueless left wing constituents by going after the NRA.
In June 2016, James attempted to pressure six financial institutions, including BB&T, Berkshire Bank, Citizens Financial Group, People's United Bank, Regions Financial Corporation and TD Bank, into ending its practice of providing financial services to gun manufacturers.
Did you not know that these people are politicians?
The NRA was chartered in NY. Hence jurisdiction.
