They do their best to match the students and their achievements with the schools they believe would be a good fit. Then the students and/or parents lean in with, "What?!!!! Not Harvard/Yale/Stanford/Penn/etc.? We didn't spend $175,000 to only go to Muhlenberg/Elon/Franklin & Marshall/etc."
Combine the student population of all the seniors at all the DMV private AND public schools and that's the number who are competing for the small # of slots that a college/university will allocate to the DMV area.
umm, i'd be pissed if my private school kid ended up at Elon.
That is why none of the DC privates including sidwell discloses year by year college placement stats. So you can guess how many ends up at Elon after paying nearly 200k for 4 years.

ED admits have been rough all over the DMV (Holton, Prep, STA, public..), but the RD responses are rolling in and Sidwell is doing very well. Basing our opinion on facts, gleaned from first-hand knowledge, not inflammatory speculation on an anonymous parent board or the rantings of a few out-of-control parents who can’t reconcile the fact that their children didn’t get exactly what they wanted, exactly when they wanted it.

It’s a set-up for financial struggle AND failure. The parents’ expectations would be impossibly high. A surprisingly high number of families outsource this job to a private counselor anyway, because many can afford it and recognize that whoever holds the in-school position tends to be pretty green. In my opinion, the priority for these jobs should be hiring someone who can write a good letter of recommendation, who knows the admissions process inside out, and who has enough charm and hustle to advocate for a waitlisted kid or talk a crazy parent off the ledge. I’d want far more than 50K for the pleasure.
PUHLEASE... so because parents are demanding Douches, Private Schools should be paying 150K a year to mid -level Admin who have to " effectively deal " with their douche behavior??
So, tuition rise again next year to pay for all the politicking ???
Here's a better idea: get back to Education and tell the parents to go jump in a LAKE

Its for a junior position, someone who is 5-12 years out of college who likely worked in their undergrad admissions office right after they graduated and then one or two more rotations through other institutions.
