Oh, I believe FCV would get back into ECNL but I think FCV will replace an existing local club. And yes, life will go back to the way it was before, with Loudoun back in CCL and their kids trying to get back on the FCV train. With Loudoun not having a single team above 7th place in their division I would see relegation in their future.
ECNL would not demote a current club, there is no reason to do so. It would cost them almost nothing extra to keep them all. Might make for a nice little conference with reduced travel.
You can't be elite if everyone has a patch. Elite is in their name by the way.

Loudon just pulled their boys from the DA for ECNL. FCV left ECNL out in the cold when DA came knocking. No way ECNL turns on Loudon and puts FCV back in and has them right in Loudon’s backyard. I think ECNL stays loyal to Loudon as do a few people who would know.
Yes, ECNL will choose a poor performing, new club like Loudoun over a well established successful club like FCV.
And ECNL is welcoming back former ECNL clubs with open arms, FCV would be no different.

Since we are batting pipe dreams back and forth, why not throw those in as well??? I think it’s a fabulous idea to stuff as much as we can into this fat doobie as possible before we collectively light up.
The whole ECNL 2 model is a money grab to start with. DA teams are not going to come into it as way to "fight" their way back in to ECNL. Imagine FCV playing McLean or BRYC's second team at say 05. Joke.

I don't think US Soccer will allow it to collapse either. The one thing that I find confusing is why it hasn't done more for its own league. When the DA came out, US Soccer ensured it would succeed. And it forced the beware scheme on all teams - even rec - although I remain convinced that was a huge error. Now we have biobanding that is repositioning kids who often wouldn't have needed it with the former school age based method.
I know GDA doesn't encompass the top talent in America or in our region, but before GDA, my DD played ECNL and before that CCL. I have a son who plays EDP and before that he did NPL. I have seen and continue to see a fair amount of youth soccer. The GDA has enough talent not to be second tier, although some clubs have girls who don't belong there. They are easy to spot precisely because it contains girls who do belong there and are equals to the ECNL girls. It would be incredibly easy to go back to the ECNL, as that's less travel for us both. So why haven't we with all these announcements? She has gone so much further with the full year of high level soccer than she could have staying half year and then doing high school.
If anyone is in a league for status, you are in it for the wrong reasons. Go where your daughter is happiest and where she benefits the most. Plenty of GDA girls - along with their ECNL counterparts - will ALL play D1.
Finally, all over the world, GDA style leagues have formed. Give it 10 years (or less) and see where we fit in when their kids train a full year with their clubs while our girls do half years.

Hmm. I disagree. Any DA team’s top talent will want to move. And I’m pretty sure an ECNL team won’t turn away a great player.
Exactly. I could easily see the top players, at Arlington and Spirit especially, moving to take all of the dreamer ECNLer bench player spots. FCV is still more likely to move back to ECNL than not if the GDA were to somehow fall. Spirit seems most tied to GDA because they are an NWSL club, but who knows what ECNL would cook up in this ECNL dream scenario. I’m sure they would love NWSL clubs as another feather in their caps.
In this dream scenario for ECNL they will encourage all newcomers and simply pick the best clubs for as many clubs as they feel is necessary.
Would they take the opportunity to actually create a two tear Pro/Rel league?
Would they simply take the best 90-110 clubs regardless of current league affiliation?
Would they bring US Soccer to the table and work something out?
