The STEM advantage Blair has over other HSs is because of the MAGNET!! which the OP's kids can not get in just by moving to that cluster. So, if the OP is confident that all her kids will get into the Blair magnet, it does not matter where she lives as long as she is downcounty; if she is not, she needs to compare the NONMAGNET cohort of Blair to other clusters. If anyone has any evidence the nonmagnet cohort is great for STEM, provide it; don't muck up the matters by pointing to the Magnet. We all agree that the magnet program is the best for STEM. The question is, if the OP's kids do not get into the magnet, then what?

So true, and that gonzo W troll probably burst a blood vessel when it was shown that similar SES non-magnet groups at Blair outperform their W counterparts school hands down. Not to mention the school's overall average for 2018 was about 50 points higher than any W.

SATs used to be this was all W parents could talk about. Now the shoes on the other foot there's the neverending array of excuses from them, but I think that's one of the hallmarks of privilege.

That adobe cloud document by the PP showing Blair doing 1316 in class 2018 does not count - it does not provide any 2018 average for any Ws. You compare the so called Blair 2018 SAT to what? to 2017 SAT of Ws from the MCPS website? Even if we trust the number from that report on adobe cloud, one can only say: Blair class 2018 is 50 pts higher than any Ws class 2017, and about 150 pts higher than Blair class 2017.

That really makes Blair great (as if it only consists on a "class 2018").

I live in Bethesda, am on the PTA board of our elementary, and know that our school's overall test scores are lowered by the scores of the very large and varied ESOL community at our school. Yet these same students are quite good at math, and bring such cultural enrichment to our school, that it is completely worth it.

School scores do not reflect everything, good and bad, that goes on in a school.

I am perfectly happy putting my kids in a Bethesda cluster because I like the neighborhood. If you're happy at a Blair non-magnet, then wonderful! Win-win and no need to fight
