Cutting SALT was genius . They killed the Democrats in blue states, and put all those state legislatures and local governments in play for the GOP. You’re not going to vote the President out. You’re not getting the Senate. We’re taking back the House. And most importantly after the President, we own the courts.

You can have your Democrat policies, and you’ll miss out on a tax refund. Or you can demand that your state income tax and local property tax stays under $10k. Up to you.

Yeah, because 2018 worked so well for you.

And that was before majority of people realized how bad they got screwed by tax scam. Let's hope they won't forget before 2020

Yeah I don't quite understand this logic. You think that the Republican tax plan (seemingly, or in fact) screwing Democrats and Republicans is going to lead to more Republicans being elected?

I mean I've had a hard time predicting anything ever since Trump was elected. That was so unexpected that I am in a constant state of "who knows?!" But I don't really get this reasoning. Could you explain?

Well, as politicians their jobs are a mix of policy and marketing. And whatever you want to say about the policy side of this, they did a real craptastic job at marketing these tax changes.

Ummm, I’m a Republican and pissed at this Tax Bill as much as anyone else.

But do you understand the other increases in taxes you would face if it was All Democrats controlling everything? How about the new top tier income tax rate proposals coming from them? Also if we get a universal healthcare system, don’t you think your taxes will go way up to pay for it to subsidize the people who will be getting it for free without working?

this "you understand" thing republicans keep going with - that's what i mean when i say that they've been crap at marketing this thing. whatever i do or don't understand = the marketing of this came down to "it's going to be GREAT for americans" but what i actually see is us paying more in taxes.

you understand that?

I was like “yay, tax cuts”. Usually they just cut the tax rates and everyone benefits from that.

Once I learned they were cutting corporate rates and using limiting deductions to pay for these, I was disappointed.

All that glee from a cult member of a party that has won the popular vote just once(by one state) since 1988. American people are not with the fraud trickle down party run by conman trump. Period. Conman has now alienated everyone but old white men who are increasingly finding their home below the ground. Educated whites, minorities of all color and women in general are not gonna vote for the GOP. You can't keep winning with slavery era EC without winning the popular vote because math can't be beaten all the time.

I’m a Republican in Virginia who got screwed by the tax law. Our Deductions were around 90k including prop tax and VA income tax, etc...Our tax bill was about 25k more. I actually will vote for any Democrat to get the SALT deduction back.

So it takes PERSONAL loss for a republican to vote for a democrat. But if the country as a whole gets screwed by the party of the fraud trickle down economics run by a conman then you don't care. Every single republican should look in the mirror and see the damage the never ending tax cuts for the rich at the cost of healthcare, education, infrastructure has done to the country. This on top of the constant demagoguery of the "other", the damage to institutions by constant lies and the damage to the country's unity by ramping up white identity politics.

Please. At least that stuff benefits everyone. This was a targeted attack on us. Any Republican on the East Coast that voted to harm their own people needs to go. It was regional warfare.

Can you imagine the outrage on Faux news is Democrats cut taxes and targeted blue states while simultaneously targeting red states for tax increases? The Republicans did that and their base cheered.

Due to this tax bill we are cutting our charitable giving to our church by 1/2 as well as postponing a landscape project for the summer. This would have given our contractor a bunch of work for the next month but now it will affect him and his staff as well.

Our taxes were up 7k on the same income as last year, well below the top tax brackets.

And sure, the page 1 is much simpler, but they added 5 new schedules. WTF.
