Nobody is getting braces for free.

Oh yes they are. Dentists are defrauding Medicaid. It's rampant.

You resurrected this thread to start a new discussion on poor people getting free braces? Smh

Pretty sure Medicaid doesn’t cover braces.

Quit worrying about them and focus on yourself. Why are you struggling to pay? Adjust your budget accordingly.

Easy to give others advice when people themselves are getting it for free?

Yes, it is, because I have accepted the fact that life isn't fair and I'm not going to waste the time I have being bitter at poor people. I have no control over other people and their situations, but I do over my own actions.

+1. Just be taxpaying cattle and shut up. Don’t worry about who’s scamming the system our sweat and labor is paying for.

Getting braces for your kids is a scam?

Rs are so disgusting.

The orthodontist gives a payment plan. The families prioritize it over other things like food, vacations, clothing, cars, furniture, house improvements, etc.

We are low income by DCUM standards. My kid needs braces and I’m panicking. No one covers this; we will have to borrow.

I am on Medicaid (our state version of it) and I’ve never heard about free braces. I wouldn’t send my kid to a Medicaid dentist anyway. In my case, his dad pays for it (we are divorced).

They don't.

I don’t understand how you can’t afford this. My oldest needed 2 phases of orthodontics. The 1st phase was palate expansion at $5k and phase 2 was typical braces at $4500. That’s under $10k spaced out over years. We knew our child would need braces by the time they were 7 and had their first check up with an orthodontist. My youngest doesn’t need any orthodontia. So why is your teenaged child in need of braces and you haven’t planned for that? This doesn’t seem like an income issue. This seems like a poor planning and money management issues paired with not taking your child in for proper check ups.
