I grew up to his music and as a friend of mine said, "Great, the soundtrack of our youth (college years) was about screwing underage girls.

The lack of coverage of this R Kelly situation is absolutely evidence of racism and misogyny toward black women. If Justin Timberlake had done this there would have been gavel to gavel coverage on all the major networks OR if R. Kelly had been locking up and raping white women it would have been gavel to gavel. If Justin Timberlake had done this the public would have had a high time cutting down his accusers but in this case no one even bothered. That's how much they don't care. The fact of the matter is that many white people (not all) expect black men to act like R Kelly did and they don't see black women as having the same value and vulnerability as white women. I'm white BTW.

I guess it depends on what you listen to/read - I mainly listen to NPR and haven't heard much about Gabby Petito other than major updates, but the R Kelly verdict was covered in-depth. I think Washington Post had a pretty big article too.
I don't watch cable news like CNN, FOX, MSNBC often.

All of his past actions have finally caught up w/him.
And sadly his irresponsible behavior will tarnish his musical legacy.
Which is a crying shame due to his immense talent. ;(
He’s a child rapist, not a teenager who missed curfew. His music is tainted and he should eventually die in ignominy.
