Sure. Keep hiding behind that.... anything to avoid having to vote for the first African American governor in Maryland, right?

It's becoming very clear the Maryland does indeed lay below the Mason-Dixon Line.

Everything that Jealous is suggesting is a great idea....if enacted at the federal level. When enacted at the state level, where the bulk of the state's population could choose to live elsewhere, it would be devastating.

If given the choice, most people (including myself) would choose to live someplace else, given that everything Jealous is suggesting would hit my paycheck without benefiting me or my children in the least.

It's not a slur, and Jealous is pro-business. Just pro-business in a different way.

And Hogan hasn't done much at all to deal with the structural deficit that the State has. If he's so awesome at business and stuff, why hasn't he tackled that?

Jealous is pro-business, just in a different way? What way would that be?

His policies would add a significant additional layer of cost for a business v what exists currently, which is already more costly than some surrounding areas, never mind other cheaper parts of the country. How would that make a business thinking of moving more likely to choose MD? Or, how wouldn't that make it more likely businesses currently in MD decide to move? And this is only at the corporate level - his policies would discourage high earners (who pay lots of taxes and also sometimes have a say in where a business will be located) from living in MD because their tax burdens would significantly increase and there would be an even starker divide between MD and VA, and to a degree DC.

I know it is vary fashionable to bash businesses these days, but we need to have jobs (and high earners) in the area to flourish, particularly with all the increased spending Jealous would like to enact. Without jobs none of that can happen.

I am voting for Hogan.

Otherwise, likely a straight Dem ticket.

I voted for Hogan last time because the Democratic candidate was terrible. Jealous is a fine candidate (not perfect for me) and I will vote for him.

But in Maryland, the Democrats control all levels of government other than the governor now. Wouldn't a concern about balance weigh in favor of Hogan?

It does concern me, so I'm voting Hogan.

I agree. This is how maryland would turn into a shithole. I'm voting hogan.

I would have voted for Hogan again if the Republicans in Congress did not appear to be colluding with the Russians to keep on winning elections. There is no way I can vote for anyone who supports any candidates who support Trump and his policies.

Interesting article from the Post saying a lot of MD Dems are concerned about Jealous being too far left. The Senate President said Hogan has been "governing from the center" and gave only tepid backing to Jealous.

Jealous did pick up the endorsement of Elizabeth Warren. That will help the left flank, where he doesn't really need the help, but won't do much to assuage the concerns of more moderate Dems.

Hogan deleted comments off his Facebook page of those asking him to denounce Muslim ban. He settled out of court on that one.

He opposed Syrian refugees settling in Maryland.

He refused to sign a bill that gave protections to LGTBQ individuals seeking fertility treatments ornwanting tonchange gender on birth certificates.

He vetoed voting rights for ex offenders

He provided tax supported funding for private school scholarships.

Nope.

Not for me. Not in 2018.
I'm open to see what the Republican Party looks like after Trump. It's toxic right now.

Except Jealous *isnt* a fine candidate. A state single payer program would cost 24 Billion- thats BILLION with a B, over half of MD's current budget. You cant fund that with legalizing weed sales. Not even close.

And that doesnt even mention free Universal Pre K, raising the minimum wage state wdie to 15, "free" college... etc. One way or the other we are talking about a massive, massive tax hike. No thanks.

Also- the Kirwin commission is an absolute disaster for Montgomery and Howard counties. A killer.
