Is this a regional phenomenon? Do people in Michigan and the Bay Area have to suffer the same from UM and Cal grads? Or is it something specific to UVA? I suspect the former, or did until my brother moved to Europe. The game they like to play is whether or not the American in the room being a know-it-all douche is from UVA. It’s about a 50/50.
Thank you, Retrievers.
I turned down UVA twice, so it’s not my top choice for anything, but the chip on your shoulder is both deep and wide. This game will soon be forgotten and you will still be full of resentment about UVA and, most likely, any number of additional things as well. And of course there are graduates of other schools, including Michigan, who make just as big a deal about their alma mater.

LMFAO.
+1 That's hilarious. I'm guessing we aren't going to hear from that delusional imbecile anytime soon.
DP. UVA was never the type of school where a sports championship was going to make a big difference in the school's appeal or selectivity. It's a different story where schools like George Mason or UMBC are concerned.
I think you have missed the point. Most posters agree with you, and they’re pointing out the irony of one or two posters who in this thread a few pages/days ago were claiming UVA’s sports program will be boosting the school’s profile, makes it a better academic school, and will make it harder to get into for future applicants and that UVA would win the championship. And now look what happened. UVA made history by losing in first round as not just a number 1 seed but the 1 seed out of all the 4 number ones.
I didn’t agree with those posters at the time and can recognize your post for its naked gloating as well. Carry on.
