We saw 12 western states in a week (one of our daughters wanted to take a road trip) and those two states were our least favorite.

These are Mid-July-August kind of places.

I like Cape Cod a lot. To me it's similar to the Outer Banks- further out on the Cape you get the better it is. If my Cape Cod vacation found me in Yarmouth I may be underwhelmed.

I thought the city was dirty, unfriendly, etc. I was nervous about pick-pocketing the whole time. The food was not good. And the sites were less impressive in person.

I loved the rest of France. But I would never go back to Paris.

Um you just did it wrong. Sorry to say. Try again?

Yes if you think the food wasn’t good then you went to bad restaurants. I assure you that there are good ones.

What is with the anti-Asian crap a few posts back re: Hawaii as a destination?

Yes, there are many tourists from the west coast of the US and Canada, as well as Japan. It’s not the destination for everyone, but warning against a destination because many tourists (and residents, FFS) are Asian is just the worst.

I can get how a person who doesn't like the experience of just kind of strolling a city and seeing the activity and the people and the flow wouldn't like Paris. That, for me, is the best part of going there.

Re: food- there are definitely a lot of mediocre place in Paris, as the move towards pre-prepared and frozen foods takes over France generally. You have to search out the good places more than you would think- picking the random corner bistro may not go well. But there are so many good places once you search them out!
