I just learned today that the tax plan makes graduate school tuition grants taxable. If you are a graduate student receiving financial aid from a college you typically get a break on tuition and get paid a stipend to do research or to teach undergraduate students. Until now, the tuition waiver has not been taxed but the stipends are. The House tax bill would tax both. If you go to a top university full tuition can be close to $50K. This is so nutty. You will end up with far fewer Ph.Ds in this country.

Aside from the fact that you sound crazy, you do realize that this bill will INCREASE the number of individuals who do not have to pay federal income taxes, correct?
