Please explain why you're so eager to catch Trump committing illegal acts, but have no issue with illegal immigrants. You know, people who are breaking our laws every single minute of every single day. Thanks.

I don't know a single person of any political stripe who supports illegal immigration. The difference is that liberals recognize illegal immigrants as human beings with a right to basic dignity and humane treatment. OP is typical of many on the right, whose belief in the inherent dignity of humanity only applies when it's convenient for them.

Isn't every criminal a human being?

Yes, of course. And every criminal is due dignity and constitutional protections

ps many undocumented immigrants haven't committed any felony crime at all - just misdemeanors.

Could there be greater enforcement? Probably.

Are democrats ready to fund more police and build more prisons?

Are Rs willing for their taxes to go up to fund this? OH, right, Rs will cut the taxes for the rich and increase it for the middle to fund it. Well, it does make sense for the middle class to fund it since they are the ones who apparently are being hurt by illegal immigrants taking their jobs.

Read little more than WAPO bezos personal blog

It is the democrats. Chuckle and Nancy that refuse to pass E-Verify

E-verify passed and has been in use for 10 years.

The problem is two-fold: 1) states can apply it any way they want, and 2) there’s virtually no enforcement of compliance.

The entire system is uneven; businesses and lobbying factions can and do use their power to exert pressure on state legislatures to use it in their favor.

Republicans are the ones clamoring for states’ rights because, as they do with education, healthcare, the environment and other factors critical to the well-being of people they prefer to manipulate federal policy in what they see as competition for business.

Business is always going to act in the interest of profit. Business prefers a continuous pipeline of illegal labor. Business will keep that pipeline for as long as they’re able, which means for as long as they can keep paying lawmakers for the policies that support their interest.

This. Go after the employers, and the problem will be solved.

Why dont republicans go after the employers?

Then maybe we have to do something about the entitlement attitude of Americans - starting with the entitlement programs. No welfare for able-bodied adults (without small children for whom they care) if they refuse an available job, or deliberately (!!) ask their hours to be cut so they can get more entitlements.

Liberals have been so determined that welfare recipients be viewed as decent Americans as worthy as respect as anyone else (while mocking poor whites in flyover country) that they have established that living on government assistance is every bit as good as being self-supporting. While everyone is deserving of respect, we need to convey that....horrors!.....it is better to support oneself.

Ah, but white people in flyover country receive more public assistance than anyone else. The sad thing is that many of them DO work.

The other sad thing is many of you are complaining about the cost of entitlement programs, but that burden is mostly carried by states. If the states could tax the wages from immigrant labor, there would be more money to spend on the social safety net.

American business doesn't want to pay for American labor - Americans require fair wages and fair rights.

What are you talking about???? The government DOES tax the earnings of immigrants. Many of highly-paid.

Oh, wait.....when you said "immigrants," you meant the ILLEGAL ones. I guess if you lump legal and illegal immigrants together, without making a distinction, you can diminish the illegality aspect of the latter. We went from illegal alien (still technically accurate), to illegal immigrant, to undocumented worker, and now....just call them immigrants. It's an insult to people who came here legally, obeying our laws.

Illegal immigrants also pay taxes using a TIN. The IRS gives no shits about someone's immigration status as long as that person is paying taxes on their income.
Watch "Betting on Zero" on Netflix sometime. The CEO of Herbalife is on there, defending the company's reputation amidst allegations that they prey upon low income people in poor communities, including undocumented immigrants. The interviewer directly asked the guy how they are able to hire these workers, and he talks about how anyone can get a TIN. This is not unique to Herbalife, although they (and other MLMs) are particularly adept at exploiting that group. Apparently Carl Ichan, the largest Herbalife shareholder who was named by Trump as a rgulatory adviser, had no problem with this.

yeah, yeah....1.4 million of the 12 million illegal immigrants pay taxes using TINs....barely 10%. The vast majority are paid under the table, while costing law-abiding Americans $100 billion+ a year! or approximately 10% of the amount these illegals paid in.

The number of people using TINs is higher than that, and obviously a lot of undocumented people are children too young to work. However, there are plenty of undocumented people being paid under the table. Why do you suppose that is? Who is hiring them? I bet if the businesses or individuals hiring the undocumented workers faced stiff penalties, they'd reevaluate their hiring practices.

As long as Third World Central Americans know they can breed with abandon and then send their teens on trains & airplanes north for free benefits, American public school & free college, they'll keep coming en masse.

More like as long as they know that they can get a job here, they will come.

I am a legal immigrant. Did my master in the US, have been employed in big firms all the time, still it took 13 years to get my green card.

The system needs to be fixed.

There is no political will when too many business people are profiting from it, and these same people are giving gobs of money to politicians. Thanks conservative SCOTUS for killing campaign finance reform.

They take far more than they provide. Few pay any taxes.

Even the ones who file returns usually commit tax fraud by claiming non-existent dependants to inflate the size of their return.

How many unemployed citizens? Would people move for jobs if there were less federal social safety nets?
