I am about 10 pounds heavier than my mom but she has an eating disorder. I’m size 4.

Size 10 is big for YOU.

Beyonce is definitely a size 10, and I am willing to bet she looks better than you with clothes on or off.

And yes, there are many size 10 women walking around with pretty good figures.

Yes. I'm also taller, but I take after my father. My mother also helped to grow up with a poor body image and awful food habits which hasn't helped. I've gotten better as I've gotten older thankfully.

I am a bit thinner than my mother, who was much thinner than her mother. I attribute it to the number of children we each had--Grandma had 10, Mom 4 and me 2.

I am about the same size as my other grandma, who only had 2 kids (and a bit thinner than her daughter, my aunt, who had 4 kids).

I’d say probably a little, but I’m not heavy at all and am in fact on the slim side. We just have different body types and I’m more muscular while she’s more skinny. I guess I’m lucky though, in reading through this thread - I honestly don’t and never have felt any competition or bitterness about it, I guess because I think I look good and also because she’s never been weird about weight

Nope, much thinner (normal BWI for me, obesity for her).

Yet another reason why I’m the black sheep/family scapegoat.

But, yeah, I’m not getting fat to make her feel better about herself, so I just prefer not to talk to her at this point.

Yes. Standards are much different today. My mom smoked to stay thin. We’re both chunky now.

This and I’m heavier than my mother. Our body types are completely different. I’ve heard about this my entire life including today. I’m sick of her telling me to lose weight. I’m in my mid 40s and practically hung up on her today when she started going off about my weight.

I thought this too.

huh? Yes. She was 180 lbs at 20. Her groom was 130lbs. She's heavy in the pics. Idk maybe a size 10 is a higher number today due to vanity sizing. We're short too.

Yeah - that's probably a 14/16 today if she's short. Size deflation and all.

I am 5'8 and at 180 lbs I was a size 14/16. For a short person it would be even larger

I am about the same weight she was at my current age( about 15 pounds overweight for me). But she is 3 inches shorter so she was heavier. Currently, she is obese. She has slowly but steadily gained weight over the years.

I’m just under 5’4’’ and am 124 lbs. My mom is more like 5’6’’ and is probably around 130 lbs. So no — I’m not heavier than her, but I wear a smaller size, in part because her hips are naturally wider and because she prefers clothes that are relatively loose.

I am. My mom is very slim, like a size 2-4. Her eating is definitely borderline disordered, she was anorexic in her teens/20s and has struggled with it her whole life.

I am a size 8 and have a healthy BMI. I don't try to be as small as her, it's not natural for my body.

I am taller than my mother but I've never been heavier. She had a late pregnancy in her 40s and kind of ballooned.
