Can the anti-hunters take it somewhere else? That aspect is boring.

OP, just out of curiosity (and because I've never been able to keep my temper in check long enough to ask a real hunter this myself): can you ask him exactly what he enjoys about killing animals? Like, does he get a thrill from seeing it flinch as he shoots into it, or does he get a warm fuzzy feeling when he sees his "hounds" flushing out an animal to kill?

I've always wondered about the psychology of hunting/hunters.

I think it's been made pretty clear OP isn't the brightest bulb around.

He originally told you they hunt bobcats with their "hounds". So he essentially told you that he was going to sic his dog(s) on a non-edible woodland animal and kill it, and you are totally OK with that.

OP here: he never told me he loved to kill them for fun. He told me he hunts deer, duck, goose, etc. for meat.

No, OP, you said that he told you he was going to hunt bobcats, and that didn't bother you at all. You weren't bothered until he didn't call you when he said he would. If he had called, you would have been fine. AND he attends "coonhound competitions". Go ahead and google coonhound hunting. That is a sick, sick sport.

I can't wrap my head around being OK with someone who does that. But I guess if he can't get/hold down a real job, he probably does it to make himself feel powerful and important, right?
