I'm a lot like you OP, and I think there is something to this as well. I say snarkier thing son here than I would to, say, coworkers, but I can also be really nice on here, sometimes in ways that surprise me (like when I mean to write something super-snarky but then it ends up blunt-but-helpful). It reminds me of a This American Life I heard a long time ago about a waitress who was really nice but discovered she got better tips when she was "mean." Eventually they explain the difference and her "nice" was actually way too cloying (first-name basis, touching customers, smiley faces on the check, etc) and her "mean" was actually just straight and businesslike.

I'm a lot meaner when a post just rubs me the wrong way. For instance, there is a post in the nanny forum from a pregnant woman Who works 15 hrs a day. Her husband works The same 15 hrs so they literally will not see their kid except for their 2 off days a week. I wasn't nice in my response. In real life, I wouldn't say anything to her face (but would say something to dh later). HEre, no issues telling her what I think of her.

Am I going to be mean to a poster who writes in about wanting to date after divorcing? No.

Of course I've been 'all over' the thread. It's an AMA. I've probably spent 20 minutes on it over the last two days, so it hasn't exactly been filling every waking moment.

I work in the media world. I never claimed to be a "high-powered career woman." My boss is flexible, and awesome (and a great multi-tasker herself).

Well one thing we know for sure: OP is not a SAHM, and please for God sake don't suggest it as OP considers a SAHM to be the lowest form of existence. No, she is a very busy career woman- and that high flying; important career involves plenty of time arguing with people on dcum!
