You're Jewish. Evelyn will grow up to hate her name. She and Ben will have talks where she says "You DEFINITELY won the name lottery in this family," and he'll say "I know, I'm sorry," and when you overhear you'll cry partly because you think Evelyn is such a beautiful name and are sad your Evelyn hates it and partly because you love how sweet they are to each other.

Evelyn will never tell you how she is tormented about her name all through her school years. But she is. Kids call her names like Judy, Carol and Barbara routinely.

Your own birth name is Burning Cypress Safari. After escaping the commune, you moved to Greenbelt and married a man named Smith.

Hee hee! Not quite. My own name is extremely common (along the lines of Mary Smith) and I married a man with an extremely distinctive euro-ethnic name (there's only one other of him on facebook).

But I do have some bit of hippy/anti-establishment tendencies and my parents were definitely left-wing social democrats (but midwesteners, so not too far out in their behavior).

Your husband is French and his name is François Pignon
