So how is that selfish, even if true? Are you supposed to be alive till you kids go through every single life stage?

That is a highly subjective and personal question, the answer is different for each person and family.
Do what works for you.

Relatives had children in their 40s and are great parents It's not for everyone but IMO not 'too old' either.

My good friends mother was 47 when she was born. Her sisters were 14 and 16. They are close. Sometimes I think she is like a person from another era, as she was almost raised in a different time. As a teenager she was really close to her sisters because 'parents' do not 'understand'.

The most hilarious story is of when she was 7 and spent the night at sisters place and at night had to wake her sister up and lo and behold, the sister slept naked!!!!

Today, I don't have those stresses and enjoy motherhood a lot. Why not one more....we'll see wha happens.

Go for it if your over 40..I think when your wanting to have children it's your intuition kicking in

I could understand if didn't have the older girls, but if I were your DH, I'd honestly think this was a midlife crisis. You know, the end of the childbearing years and wanting to know you've still got it.

I had my 3rd at 41, and he's 5 now. I, his dad and his brothers adore him! Go for it! I have no trouble with being 63 when he graduates college.

Not the end of the world, obviously.

How can you miss someone if you've never met him/her?

I knew three of my grandparents through my mid-20s. I never knew my paternal grandfather. guess what? I don't miss him either!

wtf?

Just remember that you will die while your child is relatively young.

really?

I think genetics has a lot of pull in that area, moron.

Did you reproduce? Quite frankly, I'd tell YOU to stop reproducing to prevent your gene pool from dumbing down generations to come.

Thanks for your "insight."

I do not believe in judging who should or should not have children. There are no perfect parents and what matters most is how they treat their child. If you believe it is wrong for an older person to have a baby then it must definitely be wrong (for different reasons) for people with drug or alcohol problems, mental health disorders, abusive personalities, criminal records...it could also be wrong for teens, gays, people who are very poor, unmarried, in bad relationships, have serious health problems, hereditory conditions... The list of people who should not be parents could go on and on and you yourself would probably be somewhere on it.
