I'm fortunate to make a good income.

Sorry, there's no way I would drive a 20-year old econobox. The cost of a new nice, new car is a rounding error.

If you have a ton of money but feel the need to drive a crappy car, seek help.

People might want to go to the library and read this book:
The Millionaire Next Door.

And your (operative word is your) land records should be monitored every now and again because the equity clockers are out and ready with calculators in hand. Make sure everything adds up or there will be hell to pay!

Virginia property tax site shows how much your mortgage was when you took it out. Doesn’t show the remaining balance though.

Nor should it! That is really not information anyone else needs to know

For Homes.com — Scroll further down the page for a specific house, it’s in a separate section literally called “Mortgage History” and I’ve found almost every house in MD and VA I look up has it listed - unless there’s never been a mortgage on the property for any owner, in which case that section is missing on the page. DC I’ve found is more hit or miss.

Oy vey. Nothing screams midwit prole Dave Ramsey listener like citing a conman’s book.

Midwit prole. Loving the parochial snobbishness. Dcurbanmom, where the moms and dads cosplay David Brooks in his desperate Bobos in Paradise years. FYI, statistically speaking most of the millionaires in this country over 50 drive F150s, new money tech millionaires drive hondas, new money tech billionaires have someone else drive them.

Statistically speaking more millionaires drive... the most popular vehicle in the U.S.! Wow, genius insights.

Dave Ramsey lives in a 20 million dollar mansion on over 200 acres while telling his prole listeners to work like dogs paying off every cent they owe bankers (who created the money they loan out from thin air). He is a subversive conman. Tells his listeners to pick up second and third slave labor jobs, while he gives his extended family and cronies highly-paid fake sinecure jobs. If you think any of his kids and in-laws are driving shitboxes, you're a gullible fool.

Oddly I care about as much about Ramsey's relatives as I care about your opinions. But, these days about 1 in 7 American households qualify for millionaire status. Statistically speaking a lot of them probably behave in ways that you would consider define them as "gullible fools".

Are you the same "financial expert" who tried to mansplain the commodities market to my mom? Who is well fixed today because her grandmother scrimped and saved money she made teaching piano to invest in this crazy new technology the telegram back in the 19th century? Gosh, just another aspiring worker bee woman prole from a super prole neighborhood striving to join the American middle class. Did so much better.

All thanks to strong frugal traits and a willingness to invest in new tech. And stay in the market for a century or so.

People who know anything about cars know that an F150 with all the trappings will run you $75k-$100k. The folks where these trucks are prevalent know this.

This is why the thread is strange. New money tech millionaires also aren’t driving Hondas…they are driving Rivians (Tesla has definitely fallen out of favor) or similar $75k+ electric cars…or if living and working in SF proper may not own a car at all.

I honestly don’t know anyone who thinks BMW or Audi or Mercedes is an overall luxury brand since they sell many models cheaper than the cars above…though they do have certain models well over $100k.

So true. Should have elaborated. Most millionaires in this country over the age of 50 are driving trucks that are at least 8 years old.

I don't understand why this is public info but, since it is, why not?

Brilliant, something tells me you are winning at life. Maybe you can buy the homes at auction or hmmm, maybe you can claim the property via adverse possession and squat it out til your kids graduate from HS. Are the homes you track in the Whitman cluster?

I think I'm winning but maybe not as much as you. 😉I like my home and am not in the market for a second. Looking up things on the internet is a hobby.

+1. Chronically online loner vibes.

DP. You also can find out how how much is left on someone's mortgage or if they refinanced. Homes.com

This is also a hobby of mine. It’s addicting.

You can even see a birds-eye view of a property over many years on the property tax website. It's like the movie Time Machine.

How?? I’m in VA and it doesn’t show how much is on my mortgage. In fact it says I pay 6k a month and I pay $1k.

There are def flashier cars in the Miami area than the DC area, for example. I'm not sure Miami area is overall a richer city than DC area but maybe you can fact check me on that. I really don't actually know for sure.
