I am not because I have Black friends, coworkers, family members who are angry about this and I actually care about them. It is clear you don't.
As a Black person, this does not anger me. It's par for the course, and not even actually funny. Anyone who finds it funny exposes themselves as not only racist, but having the sense of humor and intelligence of a 12 year old boy.
You want to get up in arms about racism? Let's talk about the prison industrial complex, over policing, wealth disparity, education disparities, the generational damages done by slavery and Jim Crow. I do not care about monkey jokes.
Don’t you think that monkey jokes coming from POTUS feed into legitimizing all those other things?
No I dont think this has anything to do with legitimizing racism. This is merely exposing it. And it frustrates me that this is the only kind of racism that white people get up in arms about, but you all quietly take issue with DEI programs and say crap like reverse racism. Monkey jokes harm my family a lot less than bias in hiring and employment, or the assumption of guilt when encountering law enforcement, but I get a lot less support when I point out the latter issues. I've heard monkey jokes my entire life, and I just find it lame.
I'm pretty sure that the same white people who take issue with DEI and say crap like reverse racism are ones who are laughing at the video, but don't let that stop you from blurring the lines, Anonymous Poster.
I'm White, I think the video, and any of the dehumanizing racist imagery, is horrifying. I also think that DEI as a policy is not effective because it doesn't fix the issue it purports to address. And I also believe that racism can be directed toward Whites. It's the actions that are racist. It doesn't matter the group.
+1
Our POTUS being awful and careless enough to post this on social media is disgraceful. Completely disgraceful.
With regard to DEI; as a policy, it can be effective in some circumstances if applied appropriately. I also strongly believe DEI doesn't address the root of the equal opportunity problem. There are much more prudent and effective ways to level the playing field for all (focusing on resources and programs that give disadvantaged children as close to an equal opportunity from birth as we possibly can).
Thank you for proving my point. White people are only willing to engage with racism that looks like this. Not the actual everyday racism that keeps POC as second class citizens in this country, that would threaten the privileges and advantages that you all know very well that you receive. I'm not moved by you all acting outraged over this video while dismissing attempts to level the racial playing field.

you are saying ut like having a racist in teh WH wasn't the norm- I would argue that Eisenhower (made more probable if his mother was "passing like it is alleged but even those who passed allowed their kids to have racist beliefs b.c they couldn't challenge the fiction of their "whiteness') , George W Bush (God help me ) and Obama are the only non-racist presidents we've ever had, products of their ages and experiences.
I'm saying it like our president is an overt, blatant, unapologetic racist and it is normalized. I am not too old, but I cannot remember any president in my lifetime openly and blatantly displaying his racism.
Half of American voters voted for this idiot. Haven’t you figured out by now half of Americans are racist.

Anonymous wrote:White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt responded early Friday in a statement shared with Newsweek, dismissing backlash to the video clip but not directly addressing criticism that the imagery echoed racist tropes.
"This is from an internet meme video depicting President Trump as the King of the Jungle and Democrats as characters from the Lion King," she said. "Please stop the fake outrage and report on something today that actually matters to the American public."
…………I’m sorry but the the actual F did I just read. Are people really that dumb to believe this BS?

Surely this provides some of them the excuse they need to distance themselves from Trump. They know he's in trouble, they know their party is in trouble, they know many of their seats are in jeopardy--will any of them try to course correct?
Susan Collins will express concern.

And he's jealous Obama isn’t in the Epstein files.
I read that Pres. Obama's spokesperson said he has no comment. I would love to hear what Pres. Obama says about this in private.
Pres Obama doesn’t get easily offended by things. He’s a confident person. That’s why he ran for president and didn’t change his name to Barry like pundits said. If he were Hillary or another candidate, he would listen to the experts.
I think he set the bar so high Democrats struggle to find another star like him
After all of this time they still can’t find a personal scandal on him. Say what you will about his policies, but he has absolutely no personal stains.

Okay? They absolutely love it! He says what they're all thinking.
