I lived in Bethesda for a total of 10 yrs between 2009 and 2025 with a few years in other places for work. They attended 3rd grade thru the middle of 10th grade in Bethesda public schools.
I now live in the UK and each of my kids goes to a top 5 Uk university.
I can't tell you how sick I am of the posters attempting to police who can post on DCUM based on their location.
I can't tell you how sick I am of the posters who feel a need to insert pretentious announcements like "each my kids go to a top 5" to a thread where it is irrelevant to the subject at hand.
Well you're obviously an enormous moron. What is the title of the thread? "If you have kids in college now" And my kids are in their first year of college after graduating in 2025.
No, the moron would be you. The thread tltle and first line of the first post ask, "If you have a kid in college now, can you say what college?" And apparently you can't. You did not name your kid's schools (which would be interesting to know) but instead bragged about their school's rank, which no one asked about or cares about. I answered up-thread and named my kid's school. That was the assignment.

Top 5? You mean they go to a DCUM safety school. Just say it.

My oldest is a college senior and I have been on DCUM since she was a baby and it was a listserv. It’s hard to quit.

I’m the PP with a kid at Whitman. It’s pretty great. DC loves classes, is working hard, and has found the community to be both interesting and incredibly friendly. A real mix of kids — many outdoorsy, a lot of niche interests too, and all seem to have openness toward one another. Nice little campus (with wandering ducks!) close to downtown — a two block walk for groceries, a decent meal out, a good record store, boba, plenty of funky thrift stores. (Tons of wineries for the parents if you partake). The big downside is the back-and-forth, and if your kid needs to be in a major metro area, we’ll, Walla Walla isn’t that. I’ve said on here before that if Whitman were in the Northeast or in a major metro area it would be a lot harder to get into…but then it wouldn’t have the same vibe or sense of place. Definitely worth a visit, especially if the distance/locale feels more like an adventure than a drag.

We know that means Harvard.
Harvard is in Cambridge. It is no more in Boston than UMCP is in DC. But, Hahvahd people are definitely pretentious asshats.
