Are LACs now out of favor?

At DD's HS, everyone is EDing to much larger schools like Rice, Emory and NYU and not LACs anymore.

So hooked. And I don’t mean just double legacy. Has there been any contact with coach whatsoever? Methinks yes. Lots of athletes who get an admissions edge pretend they did not because they do not have a “recruited athlete” spot. But they kind of do…

Not at Bowdoin.

Pomona
4.0 unweighted

Neuroscience
Strong ECs and recs from a top private.

We’re willing to take a shot in the dark.

100% not getting in unless the ECs are really niche.

DP. Did anyone ask for your prediction?

Too bad, they shouldn’t have wasted their ed on a school that doesn’t want DC area students. If you want an lac, go to Williams or Amherst.

Fewer students apply to Pomona from this area, so maybe it actually helps. Amherst and Williams get lots of DMV/Mid-Atlantic applicants.

this Pomona applicant couldn't be much stronger. I know a DC area kid at Pomona now. Good luck!

Neuroscience is a female major though, and I assume this is a DD.

+1, Pomona has an excess amount of women in stem fields.

They know but they don't care or treat it as any different.

AOs from top schools have said so at info sessions.

Exactly. They just want as high a score as possible so they can cite it for their rankings. USNWR & Co doesn't differentiate SAT Scores by how many sittings. That would be silly. The superscores and singlescores are identical for purposes of the rankings.
