So many teachers complain about MCEA. Why isn't there more outright rebellion?
It's an incredibly corrupt institution that only looks out for the desires of a small group. And that small group definitely doesn't include any students.
MCEA’s constituents they need to serve are teachers not students.
Who is serving the students/families? One man for himself? Or does the MCCPTA help students and families?:

Yes such as? They have been the ones that pushed for early community conversations about boundary studies. MS novel studies. Digital balance resolution. If more families actually got involved in their PTAs and MCCPTA (and not just to plan parties or fundraisers) imagine what could be accomplished.
Agree. MCCPTA is trying to hold MCPS accountable and pushing to improve programming.
MCCPTA has changed leadership recently and not everyone in the organization agrees with holding MCPS’s feet to the fire.
Many in the MCCPTA world prioritize their access and proximity to MCPS leadership over challenging the system on making good on the promises it makes.
Completely disagree with you. Leadership is there expressly to improve outcomes for students. If they only cared about their own kids, they could do that without all the work that is involved in MCCPTA leadership positions.
MCCPTA gives them access to closed door MCPS meetings. Regular parents don’t get that.

The current leadership has been around a long time and is pushing their self-interest. They have done nothing to hold MCPS accountable or improve things.
Sounds like you should run for a leadership position, which is great, because not a lot of people are willing to do it given how much work it requires -- please do put your hat in the ring.
I have been in leadership positions. Never again. No help, lots of work and usually the school admin do everything possible to make things difficult and undermine. I do spend a lot of time volunteering with our PTA. But, its very poorly run and the president and leadership are not responsive at all.
So is the problem then MCCPTA or MCPS Admin. Join the leadership in your PTA or Cluster.
Our local isn't any better and yes, I do heavily volunteer but I'm done being a leader and organizing.
Then stop complaining about those who are willing to put in the hours and effort to volunteer.

For years MCCPTA has been in closed meetings with MCPS and signs non-disclosure forms and represents parents without ever telling parents.
MCCPTA is not trying.
