Just go apply at a catholic school if it is that important to you.
You want to work somewhere where people’s rights are intentionally violated?
Catholics are not putting flyers in your mail box.

We have 60 staff and it’s hard not to feel uncomfortable or the odd one out when everyone holds hands and bows their head but that one teacher doesn’t. Just keep it out of school and keep it moving.
What f***** up red state is this in?! This is highly illegal. Church and state need to be kept separate! I'd be looking for a new job faster than you can say "amen!"
Please stop day drinking. You sound unhinged and your posts are embarrassing.
Honey, I am completely sober! People who think God is real are embarrassing. It's like believing in Santa. Once your age hits the double digits, it's not cute anymore. Have fun crying when Trump loses in November! Go Kamala!! Go Tim!!
God is real, and I’m not a Trump voter. And you still sound unhinged.
Really? Then why are kids get their heads blown off at school? Why did my mom die from cancer at age 60? Why do people abuse animals? I'm waiting...
Why do you think that means God doesn't exist?
I feel if there was a God, he/she would not let bad things happen to people and animals. Also, he/she would not condone homophobia, misogyny and racism in their name!

But why do you believe any of that?
You either find them persuasive or you don't. I personally believe pure naturalism (matter is all there is) does not account for moral realism and that Christianity offers the best explanation for the world as it is. I respect that you disagree with that. I also believe this forum is not the place to debate this.

What’s hateful about putting a card with a verse on it in a mailbox?
Cramming your religion down other people’s throats at their place of work where it’s actually illegal to do that is extremely hateful.
Just because a very sad soul reads a greeting card as "cramming religion down other people's throats" does not make it so.
It sounds like a lovely greeting, wishing teachers a good year. Take a chill pill, PP, or perhaps something stronger. You are beginning to sound unhinged.
I hope you get fired if you ever do this shit at work. Keep your religious shit at home. I want no part of it. You have no right to inflict it on me. Also, it’s against the law to do this at schools so the unhinged ones are the ones breaking the law .
You’re really dumb.
The Supreme Court disagrees with you.
So does the Constitution.
BS keep your crap religious stupidity out of our schools
You don’t like the answer, but there it is again:
"Schools may impose the same reasonable time, place, or manner restrictions on distribution of religious literature as they do on non-school literature generally, but they may not target religious literature for more permissive or more restrictive regulation." https://www2.ed.gov/polic...dance.html
So if a school wants to put a restriction on ALL pamphlets, then the church cannot place things in mailboxes. But if the school allows for these advertisements, then there can’t be particular restrictions. This has been covered multiple times on this thread.
I don’t care for these types of ads, but I understand why they are allowed. Since I am not interested, I will throw it away. I suggest you do the same.
Your hatred of religion concerning. Since you are a teacher, I worry about the way you will treat outwardly religious students in your class. I hope you are able to bottle this vitriol so you don’t display it to your students.
They are NOT allowed.
So your school allows no advertisements at all, then. No flyers with DSW coupons, info about neighborhood / community events, etc. Because that’s the only way religious flyers are prohibited, if ALL flyers are prohibited. If your school allows that Staples flyer with the 20% off coupon for teachers, then they have to let the church down the road welcome you back to school.
Again: you may not like it, but that’s the way it is. And it’s not a big deal. Your mailroom has a trash can, I’m sure.
This. There is no way they're not allowed. Are students allowed to wear crosses? I do wonder how these people treat Christian students? It's really sad.
I posted that question above. I can’t imagine how a teacher who exhibits this extreme of a reaction about a harmless flyer feels about actual Christians sitting in her classroom. It’s worrisome, actually.
I’m the op. I’m also a Christian.
There is no place for this at school.

You ABSOLUTELY should keep your beliefs to yourself within your classroom. I hope you are not condemning your religious students, and I hope you are able to treat them with the respect they deserve.
As much as you don’t want a flyer in your mailbox, I don’t want a teacher for my children who is going to judge and condemn them. Your unreasonable reaction to a well-wishing flyer is, frankly, scary.
And I wish you wouldn’t relate this to Harris’s campaign. I am also voting for Harris, and I don’t think you are doing her any favors relating her campaign to hate.
I'm not the OP who received the bible verse card but I am the "sober Democrat PP." Strangely enough, I actually used to be a teacher but haven't been one in over five years. I never expressed my opinions in the classroom. Also, this would never have happened in my school.
Surely you can see why parents would be concerned.
I am also a teacher. This (and worse) has happened at my school. Each time I’ve just looked the other way because I have more important work to do. I also don’t view myself as above others, and I’m not going to insult my students by calling them “embarrassing” for believing in God. I am wise enough to know that I don’t know everything.
If religion must be kept out of schools to appease OP’s anger, then so must overt expressions against it.
I’m all about fairness and balance.
