That was heartbreaking and I’m so sad for her.

In the main NBC broadcast I'm not getting much about about the athletes' training and diets and other practices. It was nice to great about Sunni Lee's journal. I want more stuff like that. Like how many miles a week are the track athletes running? What are everyone's schedules like? Do some have jobs outside of sports?

I thought there used to be more of that in previous Olympics.

There’s a whole debate about this going on in the Simone Biles thread.

Totally agree!

I know, it's been so much FUN!

Still plenty of cranky people in this thread, but my family and I are loving it!

If they don't have baseball in Olympics, why not remove basketball too? Opens up space for another sport. NBA Basketball can play against national teams in games throughout the year.

They used to, but attendance was so low that they removed it after the games in Athens. Baseball most boring sport on Earth and no one outside the US cares about it.
Basketball is great and will never be removed.

Japan, DR, love baseball

We have mostly watched on Peacock and even with our cheapo subscription with ads it's not that bad. I am watching the gymnastics apparatus finals right now (on time delay as they were very early this morning) and I have to watch a minute of adds before each apparatus and medal ceremony but like I can watch all the floor routines together without any ads. Totally worth paying a few dollars for the month. And then I can watch whatever sports I want when I want and don't have to pay attention to what sports are on at any given moment or just accept what they want to be showing.

Paying $13 for one month of ad-free Peacock. It’s definitely worth it and we’ve sat and watched hours of replay coverage without any ads or interruptions of people talking in a studio or about an athletes ‘journey’.
That said, it’s getting cancelled as soon as the Olympics is over.

How was she ungracious?

She wasn’t. Some poster(s) like to crap on Black athletes and then if you point that out they’ll say you are playing the race card. 🙄

This is pp yes that is playing the race card. Telling someone "you are being racist" never leads anywhere, you will learn this with time. Either the person doesn't think themselves so and will be offended at the suggestion or they truly are racist and do not give a you know what that you think they are. Therefore, best to stick to facts--older black person.

I get that and I wasn’t actually engaging with the poster who was complaining but also it gets a little tiring to see the level of disrespect thrown around and oddly it always seems directed at Black athletes.

This is pp again, people don't have to say black athletes are great, I find watching Simone Biles boring, but all the track girlies are fabulous. Athletes are not gods, I don't know what kind of defference you demand we give them. People can critique them all they want.
