Haha. I also think people who throw the terms “left wing” and “progressive” as insults truly no idea what those terms originally means.
Left wing stems from the fact that those who use to represent interests of the labor class sat on ten left hand spire of the room. Progressive just means a desire for progressive in positive change.
I am proudly a progressive left winger and hope the D party doesn’t die a slow death of “being moderate” (ie fraction of the party that thinks we are all good and no change needed).

You will have literally nothing to back this up with. Meanwhile the GOP actually hates labor and the working class, really anything that gives regular people any rights at all, they’re opposed to it.

Hahaha 😆 that's funny.
Might be funny, but it is true.
But the definition of crimes have changed as we are no longer punishing or reporting people the same way for certain crimes. It hasn’t been apples to apples over the years especially recently.
Exactly, if you think crime has decreased please go ask the working class (many hispanics) whose tires were recently slashed in Falls Church. That's a crime.
Go ask the many who have been carjacked in broad daylight. That's a crime.
Go ask the families of children gunned down in broad daylight if crime is down.
No one said there was no crime. Humans are going to commit crimes, it is, uh, human nature.
But crime is down in the last 3 years, it is a provable statistic, even if your anecdotal evidence is contrary.
NP. I’m in California and police here actively discourage reporting of property crimes and certain assaults. I think the idea that crime is actually down is just gaslighting.

Head of the Teamsters spoke at the RNC. I had no interested in watching the RNC but saw clips on Jon Stewart. Although I'm not certain what happened when he started orating about shoring up laws to protect union organizing and labor unions.
Speaking at the RNC is not an endorsement, and he specifically did not endorse. He was also booed while speaking there.

Nationally, crime is down.
It is clearly up in Farifax and DC (though DC is better in 2024)only because 2024 is only half over, it is forecast to be up as well.
Maybe that is local issue because the national trend is self-evident.

https://wjla.com/news/local/fairfax-county-crime-data-board-of-supervisors-steve-descano-virginia-state-police-assualt-theft-shoplifting-robberu-weapons
Crime data from the Virginia State Police shows a 25% increase in crimes against people and property between 2019 and 2023 in Fairfax County.
and your theory is... Joe Biden has been allowing the Fairfax County crime rate to increase?
No, that's not what I said...just disputing your post about crime going down since 2020. Not everything can be blamed on POTUS (regardless of who he his). When crime goes up it's not the POTUS alone who is to blame...but policies in place at all levels. It's become common now to witness shoplifting and see nothing be done. How can anyone be ok with this? This is not about Dem or Rep necessarily but rather the idiotic policies in place that have allowed this to be ok. I mean I might as well go down to Tysons now and go grab some really nice clothes and shoes and just walk out.
Criminals who don't get caught will continue their illegal activities and escalate to bigger crimes.
Please say more about that. You witnessed shoplifting? If so did you report it? You reported and the retailer ignored it?
Or are you making this up based on, idk, stuff in the NY Post?
Why on earth would I make this up? Do you not listen to or read local news??
Witnessed at Safeway by DH who told manager who said their hands were tied.
Witnessed by DD at Burlington (or maybe Marshalls, can't recall) who said nobody did anything after everyone witnessing.

I'm skeptical, but, uh... okay.

Then there is no need for more gun control.
How did the FBI find the Trump shooter's identity so quickly? The gun was registered and they were able to track down the owner in minutes. Would you prefer law enforcement is still trying to figure out his identity? Do you like it that Hunter Biden is being convicted for felony possession of a gun will using illegal drugs? Shouldn't others beyond Hunter have that restriction? What about the mentally ill, should they be able to obtain guns legally?

Apparently also an alarming trend where employees are fired for reporting -- which is why it's escalating.
Thefts have occurred forever.
I think you think that your second link shows that the Lulu Lemon employees were fired for calling the police, but you didn’t read the article. They filmed and interacted with the shoplifters, which is against store policy as that might have caused a physical escalation that could have resulted in staff or customers getting hurt. Which is pretty standard for companies: if you aren’t in Loss Prevention, you don’t prevent the loss except by watching people and alerting Loss Prevention. If you get shot on the job, you’re going to sue the store.
"We are not supposed to get in the way," Ferguson told the outlet. "You kind of clear path for whatever they're going to do. And then, after it's over, you scan a QR code. And that's that. We've been told not to put it in any notes, because that might scare other people. We're not supposed to call the police, not really supposed to talk about it."
Both women said they were fired over a Zoom call with regional Lululemon officials who said the company had a "zero tolerance policy" regarding the incident, 11Alive reported. The former employees said they are working through how to deal with the sudden firing financially, and hope Lululemon considers changing the policy.
A Lululemon spokesperson told Insider in a statement that the safety and security of its staffers and shoppers is a "top priority" and the company has "policies and protocols in place to uphold a safe environment."
Company policy shared with Insider indicates the women were likely fired for recording and interacting with the robbers, rather than for calling the police.
Lululemon said in a later, expanded statement that the two employees weren't fired for calling the police. "They were terminated for knowingly violating our zero-tolerance policy related to physically engaging with the perpetrators which put their lives and the safety of our guests and other employees at risk," the statement said.
