Why would other schools be posted for much shorter periods while Carderock is posted for over a month? If there are a shortage of applicants, that should impact everyone. Wondering why Carderock is standing out. Anyone know of the school culture?

+1 Carderock Springs still posted too.
All of the postings close April 11.

Adjusting the current openings list:
HS
Blair (posted)
Clarksburg* (Ms. Anita R. O'Neill, Acting Principal)
Damascus

MS
Baker
Briggs Chaney (posted)
Gaithersburg
Ridgeview* (Mr. Stephen Reck, Acting Principal - going to Rosa Parks)

ES
Carderock Springs (posted)
Clearspring
Chevy Chase (posted)
College Gardens (posted)
William B. Gibbs, Jr. (posted)
Lake Seneca* (posted)
Woodfield* (Mrs. Katherine A. Schwartz, Acting Principal)

*=currently has acting principal

So that leaves (in bold) 1 HS, 3 MS, and 1 ES with openings still to post, plus the possibility of a few more openings depending on the next round of placements.

He'd be a home run, for sure. Some other names that come to mind: Brandi Overton is leading MLK MS and was a long-time AP under Johnson. Maybe Aaron Shin at Parkland? Needs to be an experienced, respected leader - preferably with magnet experience.

Not Aaron Shin.

Oops - forgot to mention Alana Murray of Shady Grove MS. These are the only 4 names that really make sense to me, personally.

I wonder if it will be a current principal of another school.

Hearing rumblings of James Allrich possibly going for it.

Great hire

I’m glad to hear this but what makes Reck a great hire?

I did my admin program with Reck and I know he would be an outstanding principal. He's one of the smartest guys I've ever met and has a great personality. He has always been about doing what's best for students.

Ugh I hope not. Haven’t been impressed by the acting at Clarksburg.

Yay!

Why do you say that? Haven't had many interactions with her so don't have a strong opinion, but since her appointment as interim I attended one meeting that she monopolized talking about herself. She also ignored an email I sent to the school. What is good about her?

She is a hard worker. I have found her to be responsive. Most importantly, she is a long-term AP who is unlikely to change the very positive school culture at WJ. I can't speak to your recent experience with an overlooked email - perhaps it was delegated but that person failed to respond - but I think the longer talk was probably so the community could get to know her better.

He was a great acting principal at Ridgeview, and now Ridgeview has no one. Not sure why they would move him somewhere else when he was already filling the role.
