It's an end game to get cheap labor, of course many Republicans want to ban birth control. They can let the evangelicals and conservative Catholics think it's about religion, but it's really not.

Here in VA, Gov. Youngkin recently vetoed a bill focused on protecting access to contraceptives.

My great grandmother died at 29 after having 8 children in 11 years. 3 of the last 4 babies died as infants. All three male infants died. The only one that survived was a girl

I don’t think Americans do want to go back to this. But I also know that dark money pays for a lot of online obfuscation (does birth control have side effects? Hell yes, sometimes it does! That’s why we have multiple options for it!) and for a lot of trying to change the subject (first it was Afghanistan, then it was inflation, now it’s Gaza but I can guarantee ya that Trumpublicans would be or already was worse on these issues. The subject changing of course manages to ignore that aspect).
