Are gay men piping in to make this point? I hope not. Please tell me you alol are doing something cooler than hanging out with a bunch of bitter busy bodies on this site. Other handsome straight men, Matthew Mc- oh why bother.

Some things to consider about Hugh Jackman:
1. He has a close friendship with Rupert Murdoch and the Murdoch family. When Murdoch's papers were convicted of illegally hacking the cell phones of celebrities, Jackman made a public statement about "how hard this must be for Murdoch and his family," and ignored the victims of Murdoch's criminality, many of whom had things like nudes and private conversations leaked to sell tabloids.
2. He keeps his politics mostly hidden and if he is close to Murdoch he most likely has regressive views in ways he has not spoken publicly. Murdoch is a vile and disgusting person who promotes hate world-wide. Anyone who is his close friends is absolutely questionable.
3. He is in a "philosophical" religious organization called the School of Philosophy and Economic Science, or sometimes as SES or SPES, and is an abusive guru-style cult (literally originally based on abusive cult-leader G. I. Gurdjieff 's teachings and currently is unofficially led by a guru recently stripped of his religious titles in India). Jackman sometimes promotes for that organization in interviews and made his wife and children join it as well. SES also has a shocking history of child abuse and promotes traditional and conservative values. SES keeps a low profile and incorporates in different countries under different names to keep its real identity hidden, but it is a regressive if not a dangerous Scientology-like organization. Perhaps more dangerous considering it founds children's school to indoctrinate them and abuse them.
Actress Emily Watson, who attended a SES school, said she witnessed "incidents of extreme cruelty that I know have been very scarring for people going forward in their lives." Former student and author Clara Salaman in an interview told Radio New Zealand that 75% to 85% of her book is an account of real events from her own childhood. These included teachers marrying former pupils, and mental and physical abuse that led her to contemplate suicide, another girl to attempt suicide, and a third to successfully carry out suicide.
A chairman of a UK committee investigating these claims reported that students, by teachers were, “punched in the face or in the stomach, cuffed violently about the head, had blackboard rubbers thrown at them causing injury in some cases, had cricket balls thrown at them violently when they were not looking at the thrower and were struck with the end of a gym rope. Other students were kicked, struck from behind, slapped about the face, thrown across a classroom”. SES defended these teachers and refused to fire them.
In a Oprah interview, Jackman promotes the school which in America is called "The School of Practical Philosophy," claims to be a member since 1991, and says his son attends its school. SES is in 20 countries and has a different name in nearly each country.
According to cult survivor Laura Wilson, the SES is homophobic, misogynistic, ableist and classist, which fits in with Murdoch's right-wing philosophy which clearly Jackman seems sympathetic to by association and as a vocal and proud member of SES:
‘There was zero tolerance of homosexuality, and an underlying feeling that disabled or disadvantaged people had done something to deserve their plight. If you asked too many questions they would get very angry.
‘The overriding message that was constantly reiterated was that women’s sexuality had to be repressed, that it was a dangerous thing.

Other survivors post on ses-forums, a pre-social-media forum full of heartbreaking stories of child abuse, like this one from someone just named Matthew. (trigger warning: this thread has harrowing personal stories of incredible child abuse by SES staff and teachers. I could not read it past the first few stories.)

If this book covers any of this it will, of course, be to soften his image and cover for these things. He's a far more regressive and controversial figure than many know and because of his relationship with Murdoch and others, he seems to get sweetheart treatment in the media. There's so little written about him and SES and SES in general. It’s creepy how well this dangerous and abusive organization flies under the radar and how almost no one knows people like Hugh Jackman are members.

Nicole Kidman is also tight with the Murdochs.

Ok but why are you posting this in the Hugh Jackman divorce thread?

I liked that they beat down the “he is so hot why is he with her” criticism for so long
I heard a rumor he was getting divorced too.
