They do not have better acceptances than Prep. They just don't. Two going Princeton (so far!), multiple Hopkins, etc
The fact that the school names are you measure anything is hilarious.
A lot of not “top“ schools have very specific programs that some students may be interested in. The best school is the one that is best for that individual student.

You are a moron. It's Penn State, not Penn. Those are different schools.
And MIT is a sports recruit.
LISTEN---all your rabid booster posts have proven is that 2023 Prep grads are maxing out at the strong Catholic colleges (Notre Dame, Boston College)
this year outside of kids who are 1)Sports recruits 2)International borders.
If you are an American citizen who is not being recruited for athletics you are getting into ND and BC at best.
The end.

being a top athletes takes a lot of effort, skill, dedication. It is not an "easy way in." Regarding "international borders" the same could be said about Phillips Exeter Academy.

I think the concern with most in this thread is that if your son is not an elite athlete , or an international student , and if he decides to attend Prep, then the chances of him getting into a good college are slim. That’s not necessarily the case with other schools. For example, Gonazaga (@gonzagaseniors23) has several kids who aren’t athlete recruits and got into top 20 schools including Ivies .
Are you saying with a straight face Gonzaga is a better school educationally than Prep??? Seriously??
PP here.I am just stating a fact. I was surprised as well . I’m mentioning Gonzaga as a comparison. Just look at their college matriculations this year. Several non athlete recruits going to Ivies and top 20 schools this year vs. barely any at Prep ( International students aside).
Why would you think that was the case?
Well those Gonzaga Ivy admits are all legacy kids. (the Harvard, Cornell x 2, Princeton),
Maybe the Prep parents did not attend the Ivies.
Even if true, there are plenty of other very impressive admits that are neither legacy nor athletic. Gonzaga seems to have more room for the ordinary smart nerd. Love that my smart theater kid got into his first choice top 20 with no hooks.
Give me a break.
Even if true?
It's true. Why are people so nuts with defending schools' college admits. These kids are legacy. Period.
I'm sure they're still brilliant and great. But they got into Harvard and Princeton from Gonzaga because their parents went there.
This legacy crap is such a weak cop out. My parents didn’t go to college and neither did my husband’s and we both went to Princeton and then to Yale Law. Totally unhooked. But guess what, our kids are really smart and we are very capable of giving them every opportunity to do well. Their “legacy” from us is a really, really strong foundation.
Anonymous wrote:I've noticed Ole Miss is wildly popular in this area (not just at Prep but other schools, too). What is so appealing about that particular school? Why the bump in popularity?
Because Ole Miss is a much easier admit than some of the other big southern schools. Georgia, Florida, South Carolina and now Clemson have become progressively more selective, so students looking for the big southern college experience but who aren't as strong academically are now looking at Alabama/Auburn/Ole Miss.

Theater was a hook. If his grades and test scores were great, those were hooks too.
He can’t sing act or dance lol. But it worked out thanks to Gonzaga!

Gonzaga lists the sport under the kids name on their Instagram page …the official one someone cited above.
