What they don't realize is that the differences between that group of schools and their safeties in terms of quality of education are miniscule (and often actually favor the less selective colleges), so there's no need to fret. But they do, and then some of them try to change the very different American system that they mistakenly believe is biased against them in order to get what they want, not realizing that it will have no impact on their future success.
It would be really interesting to see a Dale and Kruger-like analysis of the outcomes for recent immigrants who are admitted to elite colleges vs. those who were turned down but had the same GPAs/Test scores. I'll bet the results would look very similar to the 30 years of data they've already analyzed.

They go for state schools because state schools are much larger. But the percentage of Asian Americans at UMDCP is substantially lower than at Harvard. So clearly by your deranged logic UMDCP must be discriminating against us. UVA is even lower. Why aren’t you protesting there?

The good thing is that the Supreme Court rule will apply to every college in the US.

When I see a White kid, there's almost 50% the kid got in backdoor.
Same with Black kids, Majority of them have significantly lower stats, but got in with big bonus points.

I almost certainly know more recent immigrants than you do, so I'll stand by my statement. I will concede, though, that your statement is correct about recent immigrants from Latin American countries. But those aren't the immigrants who have the misguided expectations and understanding.
Asian immigrants themselves are diverse and obviously both of us have limited personal experiences,
however I myself was actually an Asian recent immigrant to DMV area, so I'm pretty sure I know better.
First of all, another totally wrong thing is that most of the immigrants from Asian countries are middle to lower class normal people unlike your imagination.
These people usually don't have the luxury to care much about getting into super elite schools. They normally don't get good points on leadership, fancy ECs, etc.
A Good state school would be considered a success.
The Supreme Court case is not about test scores, it's about the bogus personality score because these older generations of Asians have better leadership, ECs, interviews, etc.,
It is clearly racial discrimination, so I think they have the right to get mad. Seriously wouldn't you get mad if your kid got a super high score on everything including leadership EC interview, etc. but denied because of some bullshit negative courage score? LOL

And exactly where are you going to apply instead? You think Harvard is somehow unique here? MIT? It’s 34% Asian American versus about 27% for Harvard. If you think that’s some huge difference go ahead and limit yourself to one or two schools in the country.
