The president of ABC News issued a statement to employees at the time of his passing saying it was a heart attack. Today ABC News had no comment when approached by other media about the issue.

You know that Disney executives are replacing this woman as soon as possible. She is in over her head. I feel badly for George Stephanopoulos. He seems like the only adult isn’t he whole organization.

Heart attack seems like a pretty common assumption for the sudden death of an otherwise healthy young person. Can’t imagine the wife would have called her husband’s employer and explained that he was so wasted that he collapsed outside the restaurant.
NP. Not a cover-up but the head of a news organization should know better than to put out a cause of death based on innuendo. Just say he passed away and the cause was unknown at that time or under investigation or one of a million other things.

the mother's sister (the aunt) went to the hotel to be with the kids but didn't have a key so needed to be let into the room. The hotel wouldn't let her into the room and that's how it all started....

Everyone who dies has their heart stop but that is not a heart attack. He died because he was so wasted that when he vomited his Bobby Van's dinner he couldn't clear his throat-- due to being wasted. Horrifying to say the least.

More reason to not abandon their child. If they had a bad experience in the past, then what they did to their children was even worse. These people have no sympathy from me. Hope she get jailed for some time.
The father abandoned his children in a hotel room and went out and got extremely intoxicated. Meals at the restaurant they went to average $200 per person for a total of $400 per couple. They could have paid for childcare.

He did not have a heart attack. He was heavily intoxicated and choked on vomit on the street outside of the restaurant.

It is very disturbing for me because my elderly family member died yesterday as she was drinking milk. She choked on the milk and had a heart-attack at the same time. Feel bad for this man because obviously he was not aiming to die.
People are dying at very young ages all over the place. They need to make sure that they get a cardiac checkup especially after they get COVID.
This is highly irresponsible to leave their kids in the hotel. I hope the widow is fined heavily. Man is already dead so there is already something terrible that happened to the family. At least the widow was smart enough to send the family over to the hotel.
Hotel had to CYA. This became an incident and they do not want to seem to be complicit.
He choked. Not a heart attack. Autopsy was done has says not a heart attack.

It isn’t necessarily the case that anyone lied in putting out a statement on cause of death. He aspirated on a food bolus according to the ME, with contributing cause acute intoxication. They were outside the restaurant when he collapsed so that means he regurgitated food, possibly because of his level of intoxication, the food bolus (vomit) got stuck in his throat and choked him to death. On scene that can look like cardiac arrest and the EMS would attempt to restart his heart assuming it was cardiac arrest. If he hadn’t actually vomited they wouldn’t necessarily be able to see a bolus in the way back of the throat and wouldn’t assume this was the cause. Once the ME did the autopsy they would detect the cause of death.

My understanding was that their mother called her family members who rushed there, and asked the hotel to let them in. The hotel refused, and they explained that the children were in there.
