They all ran in the same circles. They would have met anyways.

Certainly there will be a lot of eyes on Charles and Camilla during his coronation.
William will probably be an old man before he has a chance to be King.
Hopefully I will live to see the reign of King George. (I think their should be limits to how long they reign. Charles should step down at 80 and William at 70, George would be 39 then.)
It’s usually a job until death as Queen Elizabeth recently demonstrated.
Sometimes is it good for the elderly to step aside and let younger minds lead/make decisions.
You realize the King doesn't actually lead the government in any true sense right? He "assents" to bills while remaining politically neutral (and none have been opposed since 1707). It's ceremonial.

Didn’t William have one also?
Yes. He did.
He’s like Charles in more ways than one.

Meghan was older and mature but she underestimated Royal duties and overestimated easy access to wealth. My 2 cents from gossip tabloids, your mileage may vary.
She was both. She was 20. How can you not be naive at 20.
I don't know any intelligent and mature 20 year old college student who would agree to marry an average looking wealthy aging snob who has little in common with her , bows to his mommy and is in love with another woman, just for becoming a princess.
Not to mention she was from an aristocratic and wealthy family and could have married another wealthy aristocrat and been spared all of the Royal nonsense. Let's not pretend she didn't have choices.
I think Diana in her youth and naivete was infatuated by Charles and the life she imagined she would have. He was the most eligible bachelor in the world and next in line to the throne.
Kind of like Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise.
Then reality set in.
That doesn't absolve her from responsibility for her choices. Nor does it absolve Charles from responsibility for his. But its completely inaccurate to pretend one was fully responsible and the other a totally innocent victim. Or that there weren't other people contributing to the problem (his family, her family, Camilla, etc.) It took many many people to make this hot mess.
This is basically the smartest thing I've ever read on DCUM about the Charles and Diana thing.
Diana reminds me of that friend who you like a lot but makes some serious bad life choices, and you can only sort of shake your head. I think the two of them were just living out different scripts in their head. And I think QE2, while a really great queen, was a pretty lousy mom and MIL who made the whole thing worse by being indulgent at the wrong times and strict at the wrong times.
Why thank you! I think that's the nicest thing someone has ever said to me on this board!
