Corn syrup
I noticed a lot of the foods that cause me joint pain and swelling are GMO foods. Coincidence? I don’t know.
Corn is a bad one for me.
Same with me.
People are looking for scientific evidence which is not available.
Before arriving to the US, many are told to be extremely careful with food consumption in order to keep normal weight , that the food in the US is different from Europe or Canada. I know of a 24 year old professional ballerina who put on 18 lbs in a month eating the same way she ate in Eastern Europe. It was a disaster. She was put on a 1000 calorie diet until the end of her 1 year contract.
Does GMO affect everyone? Probably not. But it definitely affects many, especially those who are not used to it.

I’m most concerned because my pcp in the USA mentioned about the inflammation in a very casual way, as if it’s something to be expected. I’ll be testing again in a month to compare the results.
What do you mean by inflammation in recent blood work? What markers show this?

Cut out processed foods, sugar etc. Eat meat, fat and limited amounts of whole fruits/veggies. You will be better off.
They eat plenty of bread too. Not sugar, but they by no means are living the low carb lifestyle
Yeah this doesn’t track for me. My family in Italy eats rusks or cookies for breakfast with cappuccino. Crostini, sandwiches, potatoes frittata, focaccia, Bruschetta, pasta, pizza all very commonly seen at lunch and dinner. Young people are thin, older people are often a bit fat.

You’re walking more because you’re in a new place, you have to really think about how, when, where to get food. Maybe you skip a meal or a snack here and there because it’s less convenient and comfortable than what’s in your pantry at home. You’re eating less, moving more. Portion sizes are smaller, too. People snack less. It’s not what’s in the food, it’s that the routines are different.[/quote
The OP said they track their walking. They don’t walk that much more in Europe and aren’t doing their hard workouts while there so it’s a wash.
Read the post.

It is just a bunch of overweight people looking for something else to blame for why they are overweight. Sorry, but it isn’t GMOs, pesticides, or plastic

Addiction to alcohol and sugar
It’s the GMOs.
If you live close to Canada, go there on a weekend to do your weekly produce shopping.
Most fruits/ vegetables and all grains in the USA are genetically modified and not every organism can break them down.
